Hello everyone,

I have a Beogram 8002 that I would like to connect to a Beomaster 2400. My BG 8002 Operating Guide states that I need a cable (type 6207216) which terminates in 2 pin plugs and a separate ground lead. The only cable I have is used to connect the turntable to a Beomaster 8000 (type 6270213 - 7 pins). Any idea how I can acquire this cable?

As far as I know they both use 7-pin DIN.  Not 100% sure tho.

you should be fine w/ the cable already on the bg8002!

unless bashed at some time -it should be a 7 pin din.

the bm2400 accepts a 5 pin din for phono -you don't need the ground.

if you look at the end of the bg 7 pin din: you will notice the outermost pins should have a small slot in them. using a jeweler's flathead  -simply unscrew them and save them!

just plug your now 5 pin din into phono on the bottom of the 2400 and you are done!

If it is a 2400-2, it will have a 7 pin socket so just use the cable you use with the 8000. The reason it states particular cable numbers is that you need shielded cables for the Beogram as the signal is low. If the one you are using is working with the 8000, it will be fine with the 2400. You will have to remove the two bottom pins as the codes used by the 2400-2 are totally different to Datalink and the two systems are not compatible.

 unless i misunderstand you... i read this a couple of times...

...you can! just spin the (2) outside pins out... 5 seconds each! use a small flathead (like for eyeglasses)...  

I meant to say that I was happy I can utilize my cable by removing the 2 outermost pins! But, do I need to remove the 2 pins on both ends of the cable, or just the pins on the end that plugs in to the BM 2400?

One end will do fine. Put the pins somewhere safe though!

One thing to do is to tape them securely to the cable itself - otherwise you will forget where they are!

ok! LOL -i read it both ways! let us know when you are up and running... and take peter's wise advice -tape the pins to the cable.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I was away at school. I removed the 2 pins from the BM 2400 end of the cable and played a record. Strangely, as soon as the tone arm came down on the record, a buzzing noise could be heard throught the speakers. Then, as the music began to play, the noise faded but never went away entirely.

Does anyone know why this might occur? Before I had started this post, I had connected the BG 8002 to my 2400 with all 7 pins intact and no buzzing could be heard, however, I could not turn the reciever off with the cable this way.

That is an earthing issue. Try putting one pin back in! Only one is used for Datalink - the casing should be the earth but maybe the connection is loose.

I pulled out my manual to confirm I had the proper cable and I realized that I was using the cable for the Beocord 9000! I dug out the right cable, unscrewed the 2 pins, and reconnected the Beogram and now everything seems to working properly.
