    headphone issue

I have a beosystem 5500 and when I plug in my headphones in the amp the sound is heard through both the headphones and the s55 speakers. Can I set it up so I only hear it through the headphones. Thanks and appreciated.

It should happen automatically, but only for speakers connected to the first speaker outputs (the upper sockets in the rear panel). Do you perhaps now have them in speakers 2?

I agree. Do the speakers mute when you press mute on the Beomaster? If not, then you are using speaker 2. The problem may be because Speaker 1 has a problem - the mute circuit relay commonly plays up on these meaning you get no output or only one channel.
