Using mine at present to watch the cricket! The sun was on it first thing this morning, and the surround looks very blue! Has always looked black before! How blue is yours? Looking black again now!

Mine is described as being black on the box. And today was the first time it has looked at all blue. I believe there are the two models - I'll picture it when I get the silver base.

 i loved the curtains on the av9000, i always felt they were more dramatic

when i first bought mine i didnt realize it could come apart, it did my back in for days but it was worth it,

so what movie are you planning on watching first?

Well, there is the minor job of swapping out the tube first ... but then I suspect something spectacular like MI3

mine had a faint dust line where the doors closed, i was never brave enough to get in there.

for most of us taking the tube out and putting a new one back in is MI1 and MI2 , so it seems like a good choice to me

Not a great picture, and I am waiting for the aluminium disc which is being polished, but gives you an idea. You can see a bluish tinge! Looks completely black now to the naked eye!

Just for the record, Neil knew the tube was duff when we did the deal. In fact he diagnosed it!!!

Agreed - AV9000s with a nice razor sharp tube have a spectacular picture. I have seen a few type 43XX's  where the picture has gone a bit soft, and they're disappointing. I think the great picture has a lot to do with the multiple layers of antireflective coatings, and the contrast screen.

Just out of interest, a small ray of sunlight was hitting the sensor on top of my AV9000, and by turning the set (from a normal viewing distance) so the sun was on and then off the light sensor you could clearly see the automatic contrast function of the TV working. It's something that you take a bit for granted with a B&O TV, but the difference in the picture is obvious. 

How about a workbench project where we replace the Prologic for digital surround? That would be a fun one to do!
 

It was fun getting it into his vw golf.

The tv bit went in the boot and the video/speaker on the back seats.

Not to mention the mx4002 on the front seat and the wall bracket on the floor.

That was nuthin,  i have had two MX5500s two MX3500s and the wife in there before!

The AV9000 sure is beauty, but to me, the AVANT is much more impressing, especially in piano-black!

Well, dare I say it?  After 2 years of looking at mine, I find the styling a little "boring".

Have to say that after nearly 3 years I still love the look of my BV3. Every morning before I go to work it still looks good even when switched off. Not many TV you can say that about.

Strange Craig, I feel exactly the same about my Avavt. Just before I go to bed I sometimes pat it and say nice things to it.
