Now, I'm sure Chris (medogsfat) knows all about buying and selling B&O on eBay.
I'm sure he knows all about laser eye surgery,
I'm sure he knows how to replace a belt on a Beogram 1100
    But...

Someone needs to tell him how to get wine out of a wine bottle!!!

After years of practise I've found that taking the top off definitely helps

Re: NW Beoworld meeting at King Street Manchester

Needless to say we all a a great time and a big thank you goes out to the King Street lads for hosting this meet.
One by one we all left the club 'til just Chris, Jan and myself remained. We ordered a taxi and went back to The Mitre hotel and decided to have a night-cap before bed.
There were only two people in the bar, the bartender-***-night porter-*** receptionist and his girlfriend who were watching a pornie movie on the large Kikinoko screen. It didn't even cross his mind to change channels as we entered!
I wanted a coffee with some Spanish brandy in as I have at home before bed, but, alas there was no coffee and the only brandy was Couvoisier so I said I'd have one of those.
Rather than the traditional brandy glass the barman used a tumbler, then held up two little pewter measures and asked which one I wanted. I said the small one would be fine then he did a strange thing.
He held the measure to the side of the tumbler then poured the brandy straight into the tumbler until it was half full! That was about five measures. Nevertheless it slithered down my neck rather well and I ended up having two more similar measures. Jan cleaned them out of Bailey's Irish Cream, one of which was poured into a cup made of chocolate, whilst the barman massaged the feet of his girlfriend and continued watching the porn film. As Chris pointed out earlier, it was quite a surreal moment.

    Poor me, never win owt!

Re: NW Beoworld meeting at King Street Manchester

The following morning I came down and managed half of my cooked breakfast though Chris ate nowt (wonder why!) and then bade farewell to Chris and Jan.
I had decided I would have a quick look round Manchester cathedral. Unfortunately no photography was allowed but I imagine most of you are breathing a sigh of relief! I was surprised at how small it seemed for a major city and was only in there about ten minutes.
Next door to the cathedral was this building.

    Poor me, never win owt!

When I was about fourteen years of age, I passed an exam to go to this school. Chethams school of Music. My parents wouldn't let me go as it involved buying a uniform and they didn't have two ha'pennies to rub together.
Whilst walking passed it, I started ruminating on how different my life would have been if I had attended.
I'd probably be boring everyone on violinworld.org now instead of you lot!

Andy - he has moved on - his favourite band is now....Girls Aloud !!!!!!!!!??

I've been away since just after the now legendary Friday 20th, so must just add that it was an honour and a pleasure to host a meeting of (mainly) North West BeoWorlders.

I've spoken to several other people who nearly came but didn't, and having read this thread, I think they wished they had even more !!  On behalf of Ian, Chris and Graham, thanks to everyone who came, and we will no doubt see you all for #2, as and when we think of something suitable.

    Regards
