Cheers Mobe, I've always liked old buildings. I hope Mini-Mobe is feeling better by the way.

I unpacked my bag and checked the quickest route to King Street on foot with my new TomTom.
It was only five minutes in the rain to the shop. 55 King Street is a huge building that was once a colossal bank, Nat-West I think and it has been split into lots of different units. This is Unit four.

Re: NW Beoworld meeting at B&amp;amp;O King Street Manchester

What a lovely B1 shop! Very roomy, light and airy. I was immediately made welcome by David (King Street on this forum) as he introduced me to his coleagues, Ian, Chris and Graham. Two Beoworlders were already there, Chris (Medogsfat) and his lovely wife Jan.
David had got consent from Bang and Olufsen to display this lovely white and gold guitar between his Beolab 9s. He felt it would be more obvious to the uninnitiated public that these were indeed speakers. The normal display of Beocentre 2 in the middle is not obviously a music system to the untrained eye so therefore the "penguins" could be anything also! (I understand myself!)

Damn!

I meant to get a photo of yourself Andy looking a little "green around the gills" on Saturday morning after the so - called small brandies the rather whacky hotel consierge served you on our return from the jazz club.

That was a very surreal late eveningErm

Chris.

As I said earlier, Chris and Jan had already arrived.
Chris had had in incident in the car park earlier which had spoiled the front of his car so this smile may seem slightly forced!
Hope the car's not too bad Chris.

Re: NW Beoworld meeting at King Street Manchester

You couldn't miss the arrival of the next two Beoworlders!
Craig and Carol had come on their Triumph motorbike from Birmingham in torrential rain!
It took quite a while to shed their waterproofs and when they did Craig shook my hand and said "I have something for you"
At home Craig has a Beomaster 4000 like the one I picked up from Guildford on my Eastbourne trip but cosmetically in good nick.
I am hoping to make one good one out of the two! Carol was delighted to see the back of it.
Cheers Craig!
Aren't Beoworlders nice people?

Re: NW Beoworld meeting at King Street Manchester

There must be some strange reason why we keep on going to Beoworld meetings in the rain on the Bike. Now been to two and got soaked both times. First at Lifestyle AV last year, and now Manchester. Good job we never went to Struer. Would of probably done that on the bike too, and drowned.LaughingLaughingLaughing

Re: NW Beoworld meeting at King Street Manchester

I had been looking forward to meet our next and final arrival for some time.
Peter was the first person to respond to my very first post on the old forum.
His response was to offer me the loan of a Beolink 1000 and this very kind gesture has had a profound effect on the way I percieve Beoworlders. I am happy to lend things to people now whereas, two years ago, I would have never dreamed of lending something to somebody I had never met!
True to form, the first thing Peter did was open his case and get out his Beolink 7000 that he has kindly lent to me.
Peter has had this since new and to lend this to me whom he had never met 'til now is quite remarkable.
Thank you PeterYes - thumbs upBig Smile
As promised, here is a photo' of Peter.

Poor me, never win owt!

Peter actually looks good in a helmet! Takes years off him! Laughing

I will say on record though, that Peter actually looks younger than he is. I think he was named after Peter Pan, but it could be just a rumour..

Can we persuade him to do the top gear test track in his Toyota Pious? I'm sure with the right tuning he can give the keonniiggsegegegegegg (or whatever they wrote) a run for it's money!

It was Craig's helmet - the first one that has ever fitted me! The Pious should arrive soon! Have decided that it is a grown up car! Fast enough, big enough, economical and lots of creature comforts! And Clarkson hates them!

Re: NW Beoworld meeting at King Street Manchester

Needless to say Peter had brought all sorts of Beothings in his little trolley-case.
Things like B&O brochures from medieval times and a tie-pin,
and a strange looking item that he handed round for us to guess the identity ofConfused Nobody guessed correctly but I think it turned out to be a device that allowed one to control a Beomaster 8000 with ones Beo4 (or something)!
After we had all got to know each other a bit, Ian and David announced that they were going to have a BeoQuizz!
There was to be some prize for the winner. My heart sunk, I knew very little and Peter was in the quizz.
Nevertheless I completed the paper with just one question mark.
After a little while they announced that there was a tie. Peter and ...............me!!!
The tie breaker was about which car was the first to be chosen by B&O for the Advanced Sound System.
I blurted out "Audi A8" first though I'm sure Peter held back (bless him).
This is me recieving the prize from Ian.
You've got one of these, haven't you Lee?

Poor me, never win owt!

Very kindly, the King Street lads took us to a local jazz club called 'Matt and Phreds' where we also enjoyed a pizza and a few drinks
Bit of a poor photo' but this is Chris on our way into the club.

Equally poor picture, but this is inside before we ordred pizza.
Peter is at the front left with his back to the camera. He already told us he had a large head, but if you look carefully you'll notice it's actually twice the size of David's!

Re: NW Beoworld meeting at King Street Manchester

Now, I'm sure Chris (medogsfat) knows all about buying and selling B&O on eBay.
I'm sure he knows all about laser eye surgery,
I'm sure he knows how to replace a belt on a Beogram 1100
But...

Someone needs to tell him how to get wine out of a wine bottle!!!
