    Beogram TX

I purchased this turntable today,(Beogram TX)  at goodwill for $5. It has a MMC4 cartridge and works perfectly. It is also in great shape cosmeticaly. Is this one of the more desirable vintage items or is it pretty "vanilla"? I am a newbie so please excuse my lack of B&O knowledge! Thanks.

    Re: Beogram TX

It's not one of the more desireable vintage turntables but you got a GREAT buy.  The cartridge is worth over $100 by itself.  And most would agree the TX is superior to the turntable that replaced it - the TX 2.  Enjoy..

    Re: Beogram TX

I agree - better than its replacement the TX2 and one the last of the "well made" beograms (although nowhere near as well built as the 400* series). One of the things that lets it (and the TX2) down slightly is the lack of datalink which means it has no remote control facility. It was really designed as a stand alone unit to be used with non B&O amps hence it is fitted with RCA/Phono output plugs as oppose to more common B&O 7 pin DIN which carries the remote datalink signals. IMO the lack of remote control is no real hardship when it comes to playing vinyl but, hey, we all know how fussy us B&O collectors can be.

Very very good bargain having said all thatSmile
