    CX100 woofer question

    Hi,

    Two questions:

    1. Are the two woofers in the CX100 the same?
    2. Do they cover the same frequences? With an other question, is the a two-way or a tree-way construction? What is the cross-over frequency or frequencies?

    Best regards  Nis

    1. No, they are different drivers.

    2. CX100 is a three-way speaker. I don't remember the crossover frequencies.

The manual seems to indicate 140 and 2500Hz

    Re: CX100 woofer question

I've always found it strange that B&O only supply the bass driver as a direct replacement part for both.

    Re: CX100 woofer question

Which speaker is the bass driver?

Does the "middle" tone driver cover frequencies from deep to 2500Hz or only from 140 and 2.500Hz ?

    Nis:

Which speaker is the bass driver?

The one with the hole in the back, replacement part number 411743 (original part number is 8480173) - the CX50's also use this driver.

Yes, that's the upper driver in the cabinet.

    Re: CX100 woofer question

    Hi everyone

I have recently put together the CX100 after refoaming the drivers and now I am confused.  According to the manual the layout seems to be as follows and that is how I installed it:

Top speaker     8480174   red and black wires

Bottom speaker   8480173    orange and yellow wires    Speaker has the hole in the back

Martin seems to know that 73 goes in the top slot and in my case, this would connect it to the red /black wires.  So what is the correct layout for the CX100 drivers?

    Thanks

    Geoff

    Re: CX100 woofer question

    Hi all,

I would like to repeat my question about does the "middle" tome speaker cover frequencies from 140 to 2.500HZ or does this speaker cover the range from low to 2.500 so that the bass speaker helps from low to 140Hz?

    Re: CX100 woofer question

    Sorry for the confusion.

Part no ....73 goes at the bottom. That's the driver with ventilated magnet (the correct name for "the hole"). This driver is playing the role of woofer and midrange.

Part no ....74 goes at the top. This driver only plays as woofer.

Now that goes a long way to explaining why this is the only part now available - it has a dual role. I always thought this was the bass speaker as it was also fitted to the CX50's which I had always thought had just bass & tweeter - I was wrong.
