Beo5 3rd Party XML Generator Version 1.0 is now available

                             ANNOUNCEMENT

Jacob (Weebyx) and myself are very pleased to announce the completion of the Beo5 3rd Party XML Generator which has been made available to Silver and Gold members for download.

This is a Windows based Tool (sorry Mac users) which allows the automatic generation of XML files for ANY 3rd party Infra-red remote controlled products which are subsequently used by the B&O Beo5 Configuration Tool to configure and download to your Beo5. The tool has been tested with 52 different 3rd party remote controls and successfully produced a fully working Beo5 for each 3rd party product.

All members can read the Windows only HELP file by downloading it HERE to fully understand how to use the tool.

The Beo5 3rd Party XML Generator is found under the "Service Manual" section of the Beo5 HERE for Silver and Gold members.

As a service to members you will also find HERE the ability to upload completed XML files for use by other members. So I would ask anyone who produces an XML file with this tool, once tested to please upload it to the server.

If you have any problems with the tool we would ask you to post to the Beo5 forum.

    Regards Keith....

When downloading the HELP file (CHH format) which is in a ZIP file, save the zip file to your computer and extract the help file and then run it. If you try and double click on the help file within the zip file you will get page not found.

CHH format means "Compiled HTML Help file" which until recently was Microsoft's standard helpfile format.

    This really sounds like something.

What about putting the manual out for public download, I'm sure that a great and working piece of sofware, can generate Silver / Gold members.

....I am considering this excact thing myselves now ;-)

Does it enable me to control something like my Mac, my Mediacenter PC and my Xbox directly without the need for the PUC in the TV?

    Macsat,

In answer to your last line, the simple answer is YES

The HELP file is available for public download, its ONLY the software itself which requires you to be a silver or gold member.

    Regards Keith....

Sounds very great....and very much sounds like you got yourselves one more paying member on BeoWorld ;-)

I will definally give it a go this weekend, as my Beo5 is standing on a shelf looking quite nice, but not beeing used at the moment.

This would mean that I can see the use for it again though :-)

    Keith,

What are the configuration software version and Beo5 firmware version requirements for this?

I have a Philips Pronto remote control, I would like to know how to convert .ccf files in HEX files. Thanks

Re: Beo5 3rd Party XML Generator Version 1.0 is now available

There is no easy way of doing this without writing your own programme, but one available solution is DecodeCCF which you can download from HERE and is written in C++ and runs in command mode only.

The best way is to convert each Pronto code using the Lintronic software, you don't need the converter box

Re: Beo5 3rd Party XML Generator Version 1.0 is now available

This really is good news, and I'm sorry it has took me so long to comment on it.

Am I right in thinking that this now facilitates the use of Beo 5 to control B&O equipment that is not Beolink 1000 compatible?

The late 80s Beomaster 5000 (MCP) and the Beomaster 3000 (Terminal 3000) spring to mind; or even the earlier beautiful Beomaster 8000.

    Poor me, never win owt!

I've created a xml template for Sony trinitron TV sets using this new "Beo5 3rd party xml generator" and works great!

It will be ready to download in this web site very soon.

Thank you both for the stunning work, and special thanks to Keith for testing and all your precious help.

Now my Sony TV set is fully controlled by Beo5 LOT better than using the original Sony remote!!! due to the beo5 range power, and the higher precision of the keys.

    Best regards

    Santiago

Just remember to get the Config Software from your dealer when you buy one, this i guess will be the hard part, but make it a condition to have it, or you won't buy the Beo5.

In these times, the dealers should be happy if they could sell a lot of Beo5's :)

I have no problems using the hardkeys. Just select properties and 3PartyIR tab, and select the action you would like. One thing though, it seems that the action HAS to be available as a softkey for the tab page to include the action to be used for the hardkey.
