    wife - friendly music equipment

    Hi,

I was reading one review on audioreview  about BL8000, and after great words about speaker he was mention one phrase - wife friendly.

So I was thinking about that, and realize that this is really important! We are all boys and our toys are getting more and more expensive. Imagine reaction of your wife if you show of on your doors with ugly expencive big black boxes with the words "honey I'm planing to put them in our living room, but we need to move all our furniture"..... in my case it would be disaster....

Sometimes their dont understand our passion for audio equipment.

And I was start to think that B&O after all good things that offer it offer one more really important thing and this is wife-friendly!

At least my wife LOVE IT ! :)

    PS

    Sorry about my English.

I am very fortunate in that my wife likes B and O as much as I do. Our Beolab 1s were purchased by me as a surprise for her.

i'd say the wife is enthralled w/ the bs9000...

but then again -i don't think too many people aren't!

also -she has rediscovered so much of her old music by spinning vinyl on the beograms!

oh, and cassettes on the beocords, too!

The reason I went back to Beo was my wife's wish to go back. She absolutely hated my previous high-end system.

She loves the Lab 5's and the BS9000. She would have been happier with the lab 8000 though... But I put my foot down

When I showed her the picture of the mishandled Beolab 5's that where on Ebay and posted here, she said "oh those poor babies"   she's about as crazy as I am.

Re: wife - friendly music equipment

My wife really doesn't care about AV-equipment. She didn't when I first showed her the BV7 I wanted to buy in 2006, but said "if we can afford it and if you really want it, then get it". Now, ewery time I show her some new B&O product, she starts to become really interested.

I think this has two reasons: Frist, she noticed that it really looks good in the living room and second, she can use the equipment without any problem, because it is so easy to use. I bet that this is the same for most of the  wifes/ women...

    Yes, this is interesting....

Before my first B&O (BS2300) my wife was also not very interested in hi-fi, now she is in some cases crazy like I am Smile

and same comment  was when I show her these BL5....

And we are coming to a conclusion ....... WIFE - FRIENDLY Wink

Re: wife - friendly music equipment

I have the opposite problem..... my wife is not enamored with the latest design direction in B&O speakers; she calls them "orbs from outer space" and "they will not be going into our living room". Well, after significant persuasion, we ended up with BL9s (she calls them "nunns") instead of BL5s (she calls them "Major Toms") but we are happy anyway.

Now I am paving the way to a pair of BL3s for the mountain house..... these I am installing without discussion and will deal with the consequences. Then comes the BS5.... we shall see.

I also have the problem of my wife's variable level of acceptance of my hi-fi equipment!  I've generally opted for the counter-psychology and stealth approach:-

    1) Suggest that we need to go shopping for new furniture (and win many "brownie points") Smile

    2) Confirm that my audio system "doesn't look right" with the new furniture and offer to sell it (and win more points) Wink

    3) Wait until she's out of the house and then move my new audio system in (which just happens to fit in perfectly with the new furniture - what a surprise!) Yes - thumbs up

Here's the scores for my 11 years of wedded bliss to date:-

Sets of new lounge furniture = 3

    New audio systems = 3

    Threats of divorce = 3

Some people have claimed to be able to see a pattern in the figures above, but I'm yet to be convinced  (Apologies to any ladies present!)
