    SOMFY curtains and roller shutters

    Hello fellow BeoWorlders,

Does anyone have any experience with a company called SOMFY.

    http://www.somfy.com/portail/index.cfm

They make, among other things, motors for curtains, blinders and roller shutters.

I would like to control these motors with my Beo4/5. The problem is that they use radiocontrolled waves and Beo4 use IR codes.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to control these motors, I am open for any suggestions.

    Thx in advance.

    H.

SOMFY are really big and well known here in France.  All of our window shutters and garage doors are SOMFY controlled.  The 4 remote doors we have all work great.  An interesting thought about using a Beo4 for them.  Let us all know how you get on as if you can get it to work, I'll consider the same (we currently have 5 remotes for the 4 doors - 1 for each individual door + 1 master which can controll any individual door or all together)  BEO4 would be ideal.

You could use an IR to wireless converter, but it is messy and not cheap to implement.

However there are lots of other options and one of the best which is infra-red controlled and is reasonable priced is HERE

For top price products consider SilentGliss HERE

    Hi there..

I happen to know that Silent Gliss use somfy motors in their electric roller blinds. The Silent Gliss electric curtain tracks have a low voltage switching option which im sure can be linked into a beosystem 1, 2 or 3 (i dont own a beosystem so not 100% sure about that)

     Regards

Re: SOMFY curtains and roller shutters

I have Somfy 24V motors installed in 13 blinds. They can be controlled by Beo4 - 5 with help of the Lintronic relay board in LIGHT mode.

I use the color buttons, so I have four groups and I can control my LC2s by LIGHT 1...9. My relay board can also be controlled by the cinema control modul of the BV7-40.

You will need the relay board, a 24V power supply, an IR eye and - of course - 24V Somfy blinds.

    Works great.

    Hi keith,

I have, like davefarr  in this thread, already somfy motors installed.

sprocket is right in the fact that somfy motors have a low voltage switching option... But, how do I make this low voltage without a BeoSystem 1,2 or 3 but with a Beo 4.

I have heard its possible with a danish firm called LK, but im looking for other alternatives..

    Hi Stefan,

This sounds great. Did you install it yourself?

Were your somfy blinds also the ones with radiocontrolled remotes?

I will definetely contact this Lintronic to hear more.

Re: SOMFY curtains and roller shutters

Yes I installed everything myself. I just bought Somfy 24V motors, Somfy alu pipes and Somfy power supply, the fabric, relay board and a Beo IR eye. No conrolling devices from Somfy. For the relay board you will find more info here:

    http://www.lintronic.dk/LinTronic-Relay-108.htm

Michael (Lindgaard) made a special firmware, that enables you to control all blinds by BV7`s cinema control module and by switches.

I have ordered an LK low voltage switch for that.

If you have an MCL Linksystem you can even control the blinds from linkrooms.

I have now ordered the Relay box Stefans talks about so warmly and i cant wait to play with it..

But people wanting elctrical curtains controlled should definetely find out what they want in advance..

I have an expensive somfy radiocontrolled remote and receiver i have no use for...
