    £400 has been quoted here.

BTW, this topic isn't really news - all these products have been announced (unofficially) ages ago!

From what i've heard, the BeoCom 5 has the shape of a sand hourglass,

doesn't look anything like BeoCom 4 or BeoCom 6000.

The table-stand/charger is small, half the size of the handset.

The table-speaker is round, made of aluminium, about the size of a cd.

Flat on top, round at bottom, tableholder in the style of BeoCenter 2.

Activate speaker by placing the handset on speakerstand.

Compatible with BeoCom 2 and BeoCom 6000 PSTN.

    Compatible with VoIP.

    Has a colour-display.

    Nice ringtones, like BeoCom 2.

Price a bit higher than BeoCom 6000.

Speaking of telephones. I kinda find that B&O phones are getting behind the others. Now it seems that most telephones out there have colour screens and special ringtones and built-in voice mail. Maybe B&O should consider revamping the telephone range by adding those functions more like an upgrade? Cos the designs and sound quality still seem fine, just the functions that are lacking.

    Re: New product 2008/2009

    I don't think that a homephone needs a colordisplay.

I love my Beocom 4 for it's easy to read display, FAST menusystem, easy navigation, good build quality and good voicequality.

Why do I need  a color display?

The only great feature whould be personalising with own MP3-Ringtones and a good, loud speaker system for the ringtones and free-speaking.

VoIP is not required as most people would buy a pbx-system that can add this functionality while you can still use your "old" lovely phone :-)

Any details about the upcoming B&O phone? Crap Design like seranata and serene or useful design like Beocom 4 and 6000?

So, does this mean that no BlueRay upgrade will be available for the BV7-32 (MKIII)?

What a shame if that is true Sad

Is it worth waiting for the bluray upgrade or should one go for a PS3 now?

    propaganda:
Is it worth waiting for the bluray upgrade or should one go for a PS3 now?
No reason to get a PS3 now that the Panasonic DMP-BD35K is available. It is extremely inexpensive, provides superb video and audio quality, supports all the advanced audio codecs such as DTS HD MA), outputs lossless LPCM over HDMI 1.1 that is compatible with BV7, BV8, BV9, and BS3, and runs quieter and cooler than the PS3 as well. I have two of these units, one being used with my BV7 and the other with my BS3. The B&O software driver for the Panasonic DMP-BD10 works perfectly with the DMP-BD35K, so the control codes are clearly identical. Seeing as how B&O has still not gotten the bugs out of the system firmware for the BV7 and BS3, it will probably take them another eternity to develop firmware support for a Blu-Ray upgrade to the BV7. I can't imagine that the projected B&O BR upgrade could offer any better video and audio quality than the Panny BR player, and the latter, which is now selling for c. $240 street price in the U.S., is undeniably a much more cost-effective solution.
