    Beocenter 2300 question

I'm curious...does the beocenter 2300 have the exact same display as the beosound 3200? does the display light up information in  green like the 3200?

    thanks

    Re: Beocenter 2300 question

They both have a red light when in standby mode only.  Below is 2300, then 3200.  Pretty much the same, as Llewelyn mentioned.  The information that shows up is different however - e.g. the 3200 has RDS; the 2300 doesn't.

Actually, my Beosystem 2300 has RDS. It wasn't standard, but you could fit a module (# 2201).

The Beocentre 2300 itself cannot be upgraded for Masterlink, but you CAN use a Masterlink converter which is a seperate box to connect to the Masterlink.

The Beolink converter needs both the Aux and the Powerlink. You then connect all speakers on the TV.

You can connect you iPod to the TV, if you have a free Scart or Camcorder entry.

If you do not want to connect all the speakers to the TV you do not need the Powerlink cable between the BC2300 and the Beolink converter.

    Re: Beocenter 2300 question

I'm adding my own Beocenter 2300 question to this thread :

I've got a Beocenter 2300 from 1997 or something... And a friend of mine can sell me his Beosound 3000 at a really good price. Considering the resell value of my 2300, it would cost almost nothing for me.

So the question is : do I lose something if I go from 2300 to 3000? I know that I will gain the integrated Beolink (but I already have a Beolink converter with my 2300), and lost the 2way remote (not bad : I'm using a Beo4).
But do I lose a bit of robustness, or quality of the CD player for instance, or is the Beosound 3000 better in every aspect (no cost reduction on components)?

    Re: Beocenter 2300 question

The 3000 will integrate much better with any recent TV. Any will function fully with the Beo4.

You can programme the timer using the local controls. No need for a 2 way remote.

You will also get an extra Audio AUX In, as it is not taken by the converter. You can connect an iPod or an Airport Express for example.

If you're gonna get a Beosound 3000, make sure it is N.MUSIC compatible... There are several software versions.

    Re: Beocenter 2300 question

Thank you Phil. If I want it to be N. Music compatible, I only need a software update, isn't it? (I'm not fond of N.Music, I prefer the Airport Express solution...)

No downgrade of CD transport, or less robust mechanisms?

    Re: Beocenter 2300 question

Even if you are not fond of N.MUSIC, I would still get a compatible one... just in case. The upgrade might be costly as well. I think you need to change a chip.

As I said, on the Beosound 3000 you will be able to use the A-AUX In socket as it is not taken bu the converter.

I cannot comment on the quality. I do not know.

    mbee:

    Hi mbee!

For N.MUSIC you will always need Beoport as Beoport is the dedicated interface between the Beosound and the computer.

The point that has already been raised is that not all BS3000 are automatically N.MUSIC compatible. The early version of the BS3000 built in 2000 (with shiny front and small clamper just as the BC2300) may need an SW upgrade. My BS3000 is an early one and I had the SW upgraded to the N.MUSIC compatible version 2.12 (although I do not use N.MUSIC).
The BS3000 units with the large clamper and the grey front are N.MUSIC compatible "ex-works".

    Hope this helps

There are 3 ways to get N.MUSIC: Beoport (Beolink PC2), Beomedia 1 and now Beomedia 5.

If a system is compatible with N.MUSIC it will be compatible with ant of this N.MUSIC server.

You do not have to have a N.MUSIC compatible music system when using BeoSound 5...

Can you have a Beocenter 2500, let's say, a Beovision 7 and a Beosound 5 in the same masterlink system, all happy together?

I know you can have the Beosound 5 on its own. It has been said it can be integrated with an existing Beosound, but in that case I think it needs to be N.MUSIC compatible. Although I hope I am wrong as mine isn't!

    Re: Beocenter 2300 question

When you connect an audio source on a video entry, like the iPod on the scart, you can listen to it without turning the TV on by pressing AV before the source.

Let's say your iPod is connected to a scart that you have configured as V.AUX, then you can press V.AUX to listen to it on the external speakers and leave the TV tube off.

Has your got BC1 a Masterlink socket?, Has it got powerlink sockets as well? Has it got a Surround module?

    Re: Beocenter 2300 question

Then connect all the speakers to the BC1, otherwise you won't get surround sound.

You need a Beolink Converter 1611. Buy a second hand one from eBay, lifestyle, or another shop.

On one side it has ML on the other side you need Datalink cable (fully cabled) and a fully cabled Powerlink cable as well. Plus the electricity.

Beosound in Option 0, Beocenter 1 in Option 2.

You probably need to change some settings if you want to de-activate the radio of the BC1.

You will lose 2 way control of the BS2300 in this setup, but it remains the best setup.

Delete any timer programming on the BS2300 you've done before doing this setup. You can use the timer inside the TV.

As indicated before, you can use the iPod as an audio source by pressing AV-V.AUX for example.

You can change the number of speaker used by pressing SPEAKER 1,2,3,4 or 5 on the Beo4.
