Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
Hi, On the Web, I have located a pair of Beovox 3000 type 6220. Does this old type of speakers use foam based woofers? How do one remove the front to be able to view the speakers? Are the speakers mounted from the front? Best regards Nis

Re: Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
They are rubber based and actually some of the better sounding Beovox speakers from that period. Wonderful bass response and still today it's hard to believe that they are merely 2-way speakers. The front is either clipped or velcro'ed on, I don't remember, but they come off quite easily. The drivers are mounted from the front. Martin

Re: Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
Hi Martin and others, The text on http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=447 indicates a three-wasy system but the specifications indicates both a two- and a three-way version. The pichtures shows a speaker with one tweeter and another picture with two tweeters but both systems with a midrange and a woofter. Is there three versions of Beovox 3000, a two-way and a two three-way stystems? Or is either the test or picture wrong? Best regards Nis

Re: Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
The Beovox 3000Mk1 is the version with two small tweeters side by side, and is very rare. The Beovox 3000mk2 is the one with a single tweeter, and is only slightly more common. They sound very good, but the 'sweet' spot is quite small. Beovox4000 also had 2 versions, but I'm not sure they had seperate B&O part numbers, and again this was related to teh number and position of the tweeters, and if anything these are even rarer than the 3000's. Methinks that people went for the Beovox 5000 instead.

Re: Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
Hi, So the final conclusion concerning the pictures on http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=447 must be, that the pictures seems to be wrong or at least not include the two-way version. As I haven’t bought the Beovox 3000 I located on the Web, I’ll try visit the person selling the speakers and get some pictures of them, then and try figure out how to upload them. Nis

Re: Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
Hi Martin (i see you're reading...) and others: any good idea to rmove the paint ?? My old idea before this posting was to give them to whoever (since i got that other much better looking pair of 3000's) but now i find out it's a different 'toy' again, might be worth spending the time removing the paint ...

Re: Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
I suppose the white ones are Beovox 4000 (6217) then, and the Beovox 3000 are 6210 ? Martin

Re: Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
There's no label with type nr on the 3000's but they have mid- and highrange switches and a 3 language paper on the back explaining about the positions of these switches, And of course there's the connection for the cubes :). Maybe this helps a bit to clarify...

Re: Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
The paint - I can't say for sure how to remove it, it depends on the type of paint used. Nitromors could be the only way, take it outdoors, it's nasty stuff but it works. Then careful sanding, oil, wax or polish depending on the woodsort. Martin

Re: Beovox 3000, type 6220, woofer question
It's only veneer, right ?? Not sure how this will respond to these chemical removers (i assume Nitromors is something that kind of 'dissolves' old paint...). It looks like it's paint normally used for outdoors/indoors wood like doors etc. Worst case scenario probably will be that the veneer gets damaged so would have to be removed and renewed. Don't know though if these speakers are worth it, can't imagine they're that rare (i mean the cubes are called 'rare' but there are piles out there, only a few really nice looking ones :) ).

Those pictures of the Beovox 3000 are the earlier ones, same as the set I have, these are Type 6210.
