    Region Free DVD player

    Hi all,

I was contacted by some of the Beoworlders after my comment on how to make Bang & Olufsen DVD player/recorders region free..

    What is region free?

This means for example that a region 1 movie will play on a region 2 player, without giving the region code or protection error

There are two ways to do it:

    1. You exchange an IC or add an IC in the DVD. This requires opening the dvd and soldering in most cases, and of course the loss of all warranty.

    2. This requires a custom made Beo4 remote. I dont know where to buy this but i know that some of the Bang & olufsen shops have and use this remote.

If there is questions PM me.

Hope this is helpful to some.

    H.

I just took mine to the B&O service centre and they made it region free. It wasn't expensive and obviously worth it!!

    Re: Region Free DVD player

My BC2 was made region free when I bought it new from my dealer, it was made free of charge and didnot affect the warranty.

I've also bought a DVD1 a couple of years ago in the USA, although I'm living in France. I've change the region code from the US one to the European one very simply, with my standard Beo4. The sequence is in the FAQ section of that site.

    Hi Laurent,

So you changed the region code to "ALL REGIONS" with a standard Beo4 on a DVD1?

Can you link to this site since i know someone who could use this info..

    Hi H.

I did not exactly change the code to "All Regions", but from US region to Europe region.

Both DVD1 and DVD2. Just took it to my local B&O service centre in Melbourne... It was a very quick process.
