OT: It just occured to me...

that we don't have an Off Topic section to discuss other worldly matters. ie. politics, restaurants, computers, rants, etc.

This may be intentional, but i'm a member of other subject-specific forums and there is always some place to ask a non-subject related question to the group.

For instance, i am having a problem with my new Toshiba laptop and IE vers. 6 and vers. 7. that i've never had before with the past 10 Toshiba's i've owned since 1990.  So, i thought i could post my question here in some OT section hoping someone else here might have a solution or recommendation other than switching to Mac ;-)  ).

The problem i've been having is when i use IE whichever version, the software frequently hangs every couple of minutes and i can only get it unstuck by using ctrl/alt/del. to bring up the task manager which seems to 'free' the page or sometimes i have to alt/tab to swap through different windows to get IE unstuck.

Now, the computer came with vers. 6.0 and i had the problem from day one and it still continued after i tried upgrading to vers. 7. Then, to top it all off, the Hard Drive crashed and Toshiba replaced the HD and motherboard and when i got the computer back with fresh hardware and a fresh install, i STILL had problems with IE (vers. 6 again from the factory) and 7 when i tried once again to update it. So, i don't think its a corrupt install of the software since i've been through 2 hard drives and its having issues BEFORE I installed any of my personal software.

Btw, i've now been on hold for customer relations for 1hr. 30 minutes and still no one has picked up... (Tech support just wanted to wipe out my hard drive and do a clean reinstall again. ... i said, no thank you we've already been through that. Idiots!

Well, you could try the Beo-PC forum?

For restaurants etc, try the Lifestyle Forum, and politics.. well, probably best left to another site that specialises in politics.  In fairness, this is a site about Bang & Olufsen and related issues/products/lifestyles.

For rants, the General Forum is fine as we all love a good rant! Laughing

I know we have the Beo-PC and Lifestyle sections but they feel so 'pure' to me that i wouldn't want or see them cluttered with OT stuff and i felt my PC question is more non -music/audio related and didn't want to put something there that wasn't really appropriate. And my subjects mentioned above were really just examples of the different things i see on the boards that people enjoy talking about. - I mean, look at Peter, with the lack of an AM radio on the Beosound 3, you just know he'd like to chat up the group on some OT section about Manchester United. Big Smile  Speaking of Man United: last time i was in Vegas about a month ago, i put $10 down (to win $40) for Chelsea to win the English Prem. League title on May 19th and i put $10 down (to win $35) for Manchester United to win the 2006-07 UEFA Champions League.

    Thoughts?

You should have bought some beers for that money invested in Chelsea and Manu! Would have been more fun for you... Beer

Chelsea won with minutes to spare!  Woohoo. Thats $50 i can put towards beer for everyone.

As i don't follow British soccer/football,  Does that mean that Manchester can't win the UEFA Champions League on the 23rd?

ManU sure won't win the Champions League on 23th as they lost the semifinals vs Milan AC.

You wrote you put 10$ on Chelsea FC to win the premier League. They did not, what they won yesterday was the FA Cup. That's another cup of tea...

    Ergo: no 50$ for Beer
