Have you taken the plastic casing of the plug apart & checked the soldered connections inside? The reason I mentioned the DIN plug is they have to be pretty much "bent" to enable you to connect to the phono input and often suffer as a result. You can check the continuity with a multi-meter by opening the deck and testing each pin of the DIN plug to its relevant point inside the deck (pins 1 & 7 carry the datalink signals for remote functions so won't need testing). The service manual is available on site for silver & gold members.
If the DIN plug wiring is fine then I really suspect it is a faulty cartridge. Have you taken it off of the tonearm frequently as they don't like this? The locating pins can lose contact with the internal coils by doing this hence the loss of a channel. Do you know anyone who can lend you a cartridge to test this?
Where are you located? I'm in Leeds if that's any help.
Chris.
