MX 4200 picture-mute mode and UK model

Dear all, I love my MX 3000 for its design, but it is ageing now thus I am contemplating the acquisition of a (second hand Embarrassed) MX 4200. This should give me the same design with improved picture/sound quality and some additional features. I have two questions in this respect:

    - does the MX 4200 have a picture-mute mode? I mean: can one listen to music through the in-built loudspeakers with the screen completely powered-off (when I do so with my MX 3000, the screen is powered-on and although it remains sombre it is not really black and I can hear it is powered-on, which I particularly dislike)?

    - which are the differences between a UK and a continental model? For instance is there any restriction to use a UK model in Belgium?

Thanks a lot for your input. Kind regards, Jean-Sebastien

Have you tried to set your TV in Option 2, turn it off, then press AV before calling your source and it should do what you want.

Yes, but on older Beovisions the tube was never powered-off independantly from the rest of the unit. So when you used the speakers the tube was always powered-on (it remained sombre as it showed a black picture, but it actually was powered-on). That is why I wonder if the later MX 4200 has a true picture-mute mode which powers-off the tube when only the speakers are used. Cheers, Jean-Sebastien

On my MX7000, if I press picture mute, it just displays a dark picture... if I turn it off and then call AV + Source it does not power the screen at all. That is why I suggested this solution. If it does not work on your TV it should work with the new one.
