I connected my two Beolab 2500 speakers to my Mac Pro (trying both the audio analog output on the rear and headphone one on the front) and nothing happens. The speakers are on (they have a small red light on the front) and I just bought the cables at a B&O shop here in Manhattan. They are two 8PIN DIN male/ RCA male cable connected to a minijack to Rca Us. 

 I also tried to connect an iPod and a cd player. Nothing.

Hi Emanuele,

when you see red lights on the front the speakers are in standby mode. You will need a 5 V signal on pin 4 at the DIN connector to start them. The lights will turn to green and they should work. More info about powerlink: http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/misc2.htm

Maybe you can get 5 volt via USB (?).

The Beolabs operate through powerlink. The 5 volt supply power would normally come from the stereo to keep the speaker powered on (green light).

So you just need to replicate that. Your dealer may be able to help you, or you could just buy an external powerbrick and built a cable yourself.
