    Beosound 9000 and DIG OUT

I have purchased a beosound 9000 and have connected this via the DIG OUT connection to a Yamaha Amp and speakers. The problem is this only works with the CD playing. If I say RADIO it shows on the screen fine but plays no sound. Why is this? How can I get round this so can use Radio also??

I guess you have to take the radio sound from the powerlink, use a DIN to RCA adaptor. Pretty common in electronic stores.

The reason is that since the CD player is a digital source the BS 9000 sends this signal via the digital out.

The Radio is an analogue source, so to send this via the digital out the BS 9000 would first have to convert the radio signal to a Digital form via a A/D converter. This wouldn't really doo any good. Perhaps even degrade the signal?

Re: Beosound 9000 and DIG OUT

Hi, just an extra note to clarify bayerische's suggestion.

Yes, this is quite right, if you want to control the volume from the Beo4/5 remote, use a Powerlink to RCA cable to connect the the Yamaha amp.  If you prefer to use the Yamaha volume control, use an Aux out to RCA cable to give a fixed line level output.  The Digital output is for the CD only, not the radio, as this is not a digital source on the Beosound 9000.

If you need any help or advice on choosing the cables, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,

    Steve.

Do Maplins offer such a cable. Can only see 5 pin Dins, but I assume B&O uses 8 pin??

5 pin DIN is fine. You need Pin 2(ground) - 3 (left)- 5 (right) for audio. Pin 6-7-8 are data signals you don`t need.
