    Speaker Grills/Covers packaging

We recently decided to change the color of our Beolab 9s and Beolab 7-4 and thus ordered new covers for the 9s and a new front piece for the 7-4 from B and O. Upon receiving all three items I was surprised to find they were not in B and O boxes. The two covers for the 9s were packed in two seperate boxes, of different sizes and wrapped in phone. Similiarly, the front for the 7-4 was in a box wrapped in foam.  None of the boxes had the B and O logo. The 7-4 cover appears to be both broken and bent.

Should these items have come neatly packaged in B and O packaging? When I ordered new grills for a pair of 4000s they came neatly packaged in B and O boxes.

The back of the 7-4 appears to be broken. Each side of the frame has a jagged break at the same spot on each side. The break, however,  appears just the same on each side. Is that a design feature of some sort or is it in fact, as it appears, defective/damaged?

    Thanks!

I'm not surprised if you buy from ABT - i would expect this... sometimes you get what you pay for!

The shipping labels on the boxes indicate that they were shipped from Bang and Olufsen in the Czech Republic to our dealer.

    Re: Speaker Grills/Covers packaging

I have received items directly from CZ, and they have been exceptionally well packed, and the larger items have had the logo on the box.
I would suggest the bad packaging was at your dealership rather than CZ.

Thanks!   The items were packed in large amounts of foam and were well padded. There were not any styrofoam form fitting pieces to cushion them as other items I have purchased. Each speaker was in a protective bag and then wrapped in huge amounts of a foam cloth.  In other words, they were packed pretty well, but not in boxes or packaging  designed specifically for them.

I bought BL9 covers from my dealer and they arrived in non-labelled boxes, also wrapped thickly in foam, not a problem with the condition though. If you need help fitting these, check out a previous post of mine where i included a document on how-to fit the covers, pics included.

After inspecting the 9s they have no problem with the condition. Thanks for letting me know that yours arrived packed the same way mine did. Also, thank you for your post explaining how to change the covers. I studied it before deciding to order the new covers. The new covers are installed and look wonderful.

Glad it helped!! I'd take the 7-4 into the dealer and see if they can work it out, it's a little odd that the break is at the same place on both sides....maybe by design?

Dealer has said they will order another 7-4 gril and exchange it.

How much does it cost to change color on a pair of Beolab 9?

I am sorry I do not remember the exact price. I think it was around $300, maybe less.
