    US Beocord in UK

    Hi

I have a beocord from the US with a US plug using it in the UK I have purchased a step down transformer it can handle a 100 W output. The Beocord works fine apart from a very loud hum..... earthy hum! This can be heard when the beocord is switched off through the amplifier. When disconnected from the mains the hum disappears. Can anyone suggest how to get rid of the hum. Do i need to ground the unit in any way.

The US plug is a 2 prong type

    Thanks

    Which Beocord?

Some of the models have a transformer that can be readily modifed (ie re wire a lead to the transformer) to take account of 220 / 110 volts which may be a better way forward .
