A question,if you have SKY,or live near Manchester
A bit of ad hoc market research, if you wouldn't mind. Do you have SKY digital / + / HD and if so, do you ever watch Channel M ( 203 ) Or, if you live near Manchester City Centre, and can receive Channel M via your aerial, do you watch it ? I'm trying to guestimate ( in a quite un-scientific way ) the number of people that have access to Channel M who have actually ever seen it. Answers along the liines of "SKY yes, Channel M yes/no" would be much apreciated Thanks in advance

I guess you're trying to see how many people are catching you advert? I live just North of Manchester, have Sky but have never watched Channel M. I did see you advert on u-tube though :-) Greg

Re: A question,if you have SKY,or live near Manchester
Hi David. I have Sky plus but not HD as I only have a 32" screen. Obviously no M. Whilst attracting North-west Beoworlders, might be a good time to put some feelers out about a possible NW meeting. Any one interested? Andy T.

Re: A question,if you have SKY,or live near Manchester
Never bothered with Channel M as it's too far into the twilight zone on the Sky entertainment channels. If there were a Channel L (for Super Leeds) then I might reconsider.....
If there's a northern meeting could it have some equipment theme like the speaker showdown in Newcastle or something? There's been a couple of threads talking about what's the best receiver/speakers/soldiers(I like the drummers) in the past, and it might be nice to have some of the old and new stuff together to compare and admire.
Sorry for hijacking this - just seems that the northern lot seem to have a mix of interests in the old and new B&O gear.

Re: A question,if you have SKY,or live near Manchester
Right then.......we will be honoured/proud/pleased to be the occasional hosts for a North West BeoMeeting. Date and format TBC, venue will be here - I will probably arrange on an evening where there is also somewhere else to go later, should anyone wish ( likely to be a small jazz club I know nearby, world class musicians, nice and friendly, excellent pizza & ) Will be informal maybe a "touch and feel" event, for some proper prolonged hands-on use of the new products, maybe a "vintage vs new" evening, maybe a "watch the match/film on 9 different TV's and compare them" evening .... maybe all of the above (on different months, obviously )

Wow! How decent of you to consider this. I was going to say sorry for hijacking your thread but now, I'm glad I didn't. Next you need to guage how many are interested. Can you do polls if not perhaps you could ask a mod to do one for you. Hozabout it Chris? Andy T.

Sure - if Kingstreet confirms he is willing to be host to this (which is very generous of him) then I will certainly put something on the board. Personally I think it may be worth waiting a little while as there has very recently been the Struer visit and the new site hasn't yet got the membership of the old one when the Struer trip was arranged. Any thoughts from interested parties are very welcome. Chris.

Re: A question,if you have SKY,or live near Manchester
Chris/ Andy et al, Here is confirmation. We will gladly host the inaugural North West BeoMeet- format to be along the lines of the previous post, with a view to maybe bi-monthly or perhaps quarterly meetings to follow. A new thread with a poll / vote would be useful to gauge interest - but I don't know how to do that !! I agree about the dates -maybe mid July - just before the school holidays. We have in the past crammed about 120 people in,for Will Carnegie & The Stig evenings, but maybe 20 or so would be more appropriate for an informal evening as planned. Suggestions welcome. Re: A question,if you have SKY,or live near Manchester
I'd come along to this and would be interested in the old vs. new kind of theme, but then I suppose that depends on how easy it would be (and how many others would be interested in) carting some of their stuff up to King Street. I love looking at older and newer B&O gear in the same place as you can really get a feel for the heritage of the company and see some of the trends coming through from generation to generation.
Perhaps a poll of what we should do is required!

John - there is a specific thread - with vote about interest - all about this proposed Northern Meeting, which seems to be gathering pace. I think the first meeting will be an informal evening where Beoworld people can meet up and put faces to names, and also spend some time using the current products without restriction - maybe in future we will have a more specific agenda.
