    Youe favourite pieces from 1980 - 1989

    Hi Guy's - it's been a while, hope you're all o.k.................

I'm updating my chill out room and would like to furnish it with 80's retro B&O HiFi................

If you were to choose 5 pieces from this era what would you pick - based on 1 choice from each seperate component or one system?

    i.e. 1 record deck, 1 amp/reciever, 1 cassette deck, 1 CD player, 1 pair of speakers.(alternatively a complete music center/system)

I thought for a while about mixing units from the vast choice of seperates but keep going back to complete systems..........

My desired set up currently is the Beosystem 4500 and Penta 2's.

    What say you?

    Hi there

I would say the beocenter 9000 with Beogram 9000 and some Redlines, but they do not really look that retro IMO. What about a full beosystem 8000/6000 with some Uniphase speakers? Now that is retro!

To provide a "match" with the need for records, CDs and casettes then you really have to look at the BM5500 / 6500 / 7000 or perhaps the BM5000

    Add some RL140s

Otherwise I would try the 6000/8000 and add a CDx  then for speakers - the best Uniphase you can lay your hands on!

I'd go with this - try a Beolab 8000 system (I have one) with a CDX and some Ms150.2s (if you can find them), or my own personal choice of Beovox Pentas. They suit the 8000 amp SO WELL!!! :)

The obvious choice is the 8000 system and CDX - the best sound quality in many ways. I would personally go for a Beomaster 4400, Beogram 4002, CDX  and a Beocord 5000 (the latter is 70s really) with some good Uniphase speakers. No remote of course but a much better amplifier and the whole thing will keep working and be a lot easier to repair if it doesn't than the later models mentioned! (Except the Beocord 5000 which is a pig!)

I'd go with the Beolab 8000 system (I have one too) with a CDX and some M150 (If you can find them) or maybe a white edition Beosystem 6000 with Beovox S uniphase speakers (I have that one too!).

As for Beovision I love my LX5500.

1989-1991 are my favorite B&O years.  I have the full 4500 system with Penta 3's and love it.  I also have a white 6500 system, and even though I love it, I don't think it has the same show-worthiness of the 4500 system.  People always see the 4500 system and either ask "what's that?" or "is that a stereo?"

Just like Camshaft, my favorite B&O years are between 1989-1993

    - Beocenter 9500 and the Beogram 9500

    - Beolab 4500 and the complete wand mounted system

    - Beosystem 7000 (including the bl7000)

    - Beolink 5000

I really love the looks and the elegancy of these products Cool

BeoSystem 4500 with BeoLab Pentas - retro but stylish. If not that, then a BeoLab 8000 system with UniPhases...
