AV 7000 interface with Beosound 9000

    Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and really need some help. I've slowly gotten my BO equipment and need some HELP !!! please..

I've got the following and am looking for the best (neatest) way to interface it all.

The ability of the AV 7000 is my biggest question. ie. does it have an amp for the center speaker? can i loop the center speaker outs (if preamp) back to my tv and use that speaker.?? can i make the 4 BO speakers work as surround when i like, THEN change it to just 4 speaker stereo?? Sorry for all the questions...i really need some help here !!! THANKS AGAIN ...

     1) 2 beolab 8000 speakers

    2) 2 beolab penta I's speakers

    3) beosound 9000

    4) AV 7000 processor.

The AV7000 was a US only model and hence the European members will have little experience of it. I think there is an amplifier for the centre speaker built in and the other speakers use Powerlink. Mark 1 Pentas will need the special cables.

    Peter,

Can I run Powerlink cables to the penta 1's and then convert at the speaker to the Speaker link?? We're putting wires in the walls so if i go with Powerlink in the walls I can change speakers in the future if necessary...thanks,keith

The straight answer is yes. I would suggest using fully wired Powerlink cables as these will suit all speakers!

Welcome to the forum. Yes, the AV7000 has an amp for the center speaker, but I don't know if you can loop it back to your TV. You should be able to choose Speaker 4 or Speaker 5, which will allow 4 speaker stereo or surround sound. I had one hooked up to a Beosound 9000, and I believe I had to use a BoLink Converter (1411) to connect the two. Hope that helps.

Important question on the AV 7000:    Are the active speaker outs in Powerlink or Speakerlink????  Thanks.

Powerlink. The  Beolink converter is about £120 but you should be able to get a cheaper one second hand. Unfortunately they are voltage specific so a UK one will be of little use.

There is one right now on Ebay.com . It is quite expensive though with 600$. Normally you can pick them up way cheaper.

Be warned, an US dealer made a funny coment about it on the old beoworld so it might be better to skip it and try getting a used beosystem.

    BS9000, BS2300, BC2, BL2500, BL3, Bl2, BS1, BV8, BC4, A8

I take it you mean an AV7000 for $600! The Beolink converters go for about £30!

I certainly would not recommend an AV7000 for anyone outside the US. But they do fill a need there.

That sounds like the right one. $300 is the new price though!
