    Beomaster 1600/1700 wall mountable?

    Hey all,

quick question, is a beomaster 1600/1700 (you know, the one with the rubber tracks for tuning and volume) wall mountable? Can't seem to find it anywhere...

     Thanks!

    chieljan,

i happen to have one sitting right next to me!
i don't believe that b&o ever offered an official kit for this purpose on the bm1600/1700...

but, good news! there are (2) thru holes on the base plate that are wide open and would provide an easy way to arrange a wall mount.

i would suggest using hi-cap in wall anchors, then opening the lid on the prop rod and running some fasteners w/ large od washers from the inside out. alternatively you could lag at least one side into a stud using the same method. should work fine!

btw, you got me really excited about this, so i took a look at the matching bc1600 also -unfortunately -it's base is plastic and packed solid w/ no matching thru holes, so sadly i couldn't mount them together (at least in the same fashion).

Don't forget that the ageing adhesive holding the glass on is prone to fail Surprise
Also, the angle of the fascia means it will need to be mounted quite high to look and feel right.

I just ran upstairs and held a 1700 up against the bedroom wall. With the bottom of it level with my eyes, I must admit it looks quite impressive!  Got me thinkingHmmIdea

    Hey guys.

Thanks for the replies! Big Smile

Friend of mine maybe wants to buy a 1600, he'd like to wall mount it and use it as an amp for his beocenter 2500...

I'll let you know how it works out, we're definitely going to try! (after looking into that adhesive, of courseWink)

    Re: Beomaster 1600/1700 wall mountable?

    Andy,

Having just stripped and cleaned one of these beauties I found that the glass panel is not held on by adhesive tape but is instead held in a slight groove between the top and the bottom aluminium panels.  The top amd bottom edges of the glass itself are slightly machined to allow a good grip.  The glass can be removed by removing both catapillar tracks which themselves hold the top and bottom aluminium panels together.  If the glass is loose it is possible someone has not correctly replaced the catapillar tracks after cleaning.

    Regards

    Richard

    Re: Beomaster 1600/1700 wall mountable?

    Thank you Richard.
I have two of these units, one with the glass in situ and one without.
Perhaps in 2009 I'll get round to tidying them up and maybe mounting one on the wall in one of the guest bedrooms.
