    Beocord 5000 (80's)

I have a Beocord 5000 which had a broken belt. It would fastforward and rewind but when I pressed play the head would move forward, the left spindle would turn for a second then it would click back. I then replaced the broken belt but it still does the same thing?? Have I done something wrong??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Just order a new belt set from Dillen (martin), i had the same problem with my Beocord 5000, and new belts did the trick.

Are you sure that you got a belt of the correct size ? Some of the belts are of odd sizes and some more critical than others.

It's also possible that the new belt was mounted the wrong way around the pulleys and wheels, that can happen very easily on these models where the correct path is not very obvious.

I suppose you are using a tape for testing - or the autostop function will command a stop.

Thanks...I will check the belts again. It must be a belt problem. I have downloaded the service guide which will hopefully help me verify whether I have put the belt on correctly although there only seemed one way put it on.
