    Re: New BEO-remote

There is clearly a lot of interest among the gold members in the new remote, may I suggest that Beoworld consider obtaining one of these as a prize in the monthly draw on or about its release date?

    Regards

I sat on my Beo4 a couple of times accidentally.  Hope the Beo5 can stand my weight.

    Release date?

September (this year). I would expect the 7-40 mkIII to start shipping at the same time (not confirmed). The entry-level (or very-easy-to-use) remote will arrive later this year and mark the death of the Beo4. As users will have the option of choosing a remote, BeoVision's will soon be shipped without a remote at all.

    Re: New BEO-remote

Beovisions not to come with a remote...oh no, not another reason for non B&O users to beat the brand with...getting harder to justify costs to friends more and more.

Why ? To me its logical. You can choose between a sophisticated remote and a basic one.

Death of the Beo4!!!! Noooo!!! I hope that the entry level remote will be better featured than the Beo1 remote!!! I think B&O is trying to make a frustrating entry level remote just in order to make everyone buy the Beo5 (typical marketing strategy), but I hope I'm wrong.

    Re: New BEO-remote

My dealer told me that the "basic"remote will be a plastic remote. Poor designed.

I guess we can assume that B&O though hard and long before they decided on the two remote route - they are, after all, known to outsiders as the one-remote company! But anyone that lives with a fully integrated and loaded BV9 connected to every singel product in the catalogue do know that the Beo4 isn't releasing the potential of their gear - not to mention when they walk into another room and try to access BeoMedia etc. It is quite obvious that these customers crave something with a more usefull display.

Then there is the shift in the usage of TV's. The BV8 is a clever package as the demand for a "casual" display is rising, and in the middle you have customers that do not want anything else than a BC 6-26 or a BV 7-32 w/BL7.1 - clearly these customers would be put off by something that would suit the I-have-the-complete-catalogue customer. They can get by with the display in/on their product.

And then you have the typical BeoWorlder: Dad is too concerned about burn-in on his new D10 BV9 to let the kids watch Disney (mickey's head burned into the precious plasma panel?) or hook up their wii/PS3/x360 to it - so he buys a BV8 for them. He keeps the Beo5 in the main room and let them use the BeoX - this way they can even turn on the BV8 when they wake up early in the morning without disturbing the sleeping dad.

Dealers are adviced to order the remote when they order the BeoVision, so to the average customer it will appear to come with a remote.

It may be logical to you as a B&O user, but to someone new to the brand, all they will notice is that the price of the tv is very high and you don't get a remote, which every other brand includes. Even if the price has been reduced a little to take out the cost of Beo4, most of this reduction has probably been wiped out with the recent price increases.

    Re: New BEO-remote

Here in the US, BeoVision 7 and BeoVision 9 are shipped without a remote. We have to order Beo4 separate.  The price does include Beo4 though. So the TV comes with the remote just not packaged with it. If people want Beo5 they will just pay the difference between Beo4 and Beo5.

    Andy,

Is it normal in England that you pay a deposit for a Beo-5?? As far as I know we do not do this in Holland when you buy a item at your B&O dealer.

I don't think I was forced to pay a deposit Ed, but I want to be one of the first to receive it. The dealer asked me how much I wanted to put down so I could have said any figure!
