    BeoSound 5 output

Will the new BeoSound 5 have a digital output so it can be used with BeoLab 5?

Yes - there is digital out, and it does work with BeoLab 5 directly. I've seen it done :-)

Are there other input or output connections such as Aux in or Aux out?

    Sorry for the late reply.

Yes - there will be both SPDIF and normal AUX Out. Also I am quite sure there is AUX In. And there will be Masterlink as well of course.

According to sources the BeoSound 5 will be on display in stores before the end of 2008, but wont be delivered to end customers until spring 2009. This is due to minor software issues that needs to be fixed before releasing to customers. Bang & Olufsen are trying very hard to ensure that the product will function 100% perfectly before releasing it for sale.

The product is already quite amazing, and it will be even better. Be sure to take a first hand look at your local store once it hits the shelves. IMO the most "B&O-like" audio product released  since BeoSound 9000.

Any info on how it could function with a Beosound 9000 in the same room?

No. But my guess would be, just like a BS 3200 would.

....how that works, I dont know. I havent tried, and I'm not that much of a tech guy :-)

    Hi macsat,

Are you certain about it having a Masterlink connection?  My sources tell me that BS5 will use a new modified Cat-7e networking solution.  This will look the same as the network ports on the back of most PCs.

    Best regards,

    Steve.

I am quite sure that it features both a masterlink and a normal RJ45 network connection.

    Thanks macsat,

I was worried for a moment!  I'm working on a solution for Cat-7e cables to fit the RJ-45 sockets at the moment - would be annoyed if they were no longer on the BS5!

Let's hope that it will be something that I will buy.

Thanks for the information.  I am now more than really interested in the Beosound 5.  For me, the AUX in is the most important.  I am going to connect a Beogram 7000 to the AUX in of the Beomaster 5.  What a contrast in technologies!

It wont work, for this option you need to have a B&O television in the room as well in order to run the BeoSound 5 / BeoMaster 5 off of this, and the BeoSound 9000 just as you have it now. You might be interested in only purchasing the BeoMaster 5 since you have audio from the 9000. This is an option, and gives you N.RADIO, N.MUSIC, PHOTO and WEB. Plus you can hook up a video server non B&O and control it with Beo5!

Regarding release dates, the latest for Spain is that we will have them in the stores mid November, and for sell March / April 2.009. Delay due to software issues.

    Regards
