    Masterlink cable

I understand that the Beosystem AV9000 powers the AV9000 Audio Kit via the MasterLink cable, and that it is the only B&O product to do this (the other BeoLink boxes having built-in power supplies). However, the BeoTech minisite just shows a single MasterLink pinout. Would I be correct in thinking that the AV9000 uses pins 11 and 12 to power the Audio Kit, and that these pins are unused on other B&O equipment? Alternatively, is the MasterLink cable for the AV9000 different to a normal MasterLink cable?

    Re: Masterlink cable

Both the pink and the blue are usually wired in a masterlink as far as I recall - I'm pretty sure actually - but whether they are used normally or not I don't know. But since they are wired you can use a normal cable and see if it works.

    Re: Masterlink cable

Thanks guys - but I'd seen that diagram. What I was trying to establish is whether that is the "normal" diagram, or the "AV9000" diagram. I also don't want to go and buy an normal cable if I need a special AV9000 one.

Where I'm trying to get to is to work out what I need to do in order to make an AV9000 audio kit work with an Avant. I suspect that it's just a matter of implementing the right power supply. Unfortunately, I can't find a service manual for either an AV9000 or the audio kit on beoworld.

Of course it's possible that there's a bigger problem than just the power supply, but I won't know until I try...

    Re: Masterlink cable

The AV9000 uses "fully wired" masterlink cable. Ordinary ML has a blanking strip (grey) inside covering space for 4 extra wires. If you look at an ML plug you will see what I mean. I think they designed it like this for possible future expansion but then never bothered and as far as I know, the AV9000 is the only system to ever utilise the extra cables. Not sure where you might find a wiring diagram however? Master Panel AV9000 service book perhaps?

I will see if I can find it anywhere for you.

    Re: Masterlink cable

Thank you, I'd appreciate that. The challenge of trying to get these two pieces of kit to work together appeals, but I'd prefer not to have make too many guesses!
