4002 Beogram Turntable Arm Will Not Drop

Hi, I just bought a used Beogram 4002 turntable and locked down the three transport screws on the back of the turntable before taking it home and now with the screws back in the play position, the arm will not drop down to play the record.

Is there a arm lock that is set that I need to unlock or is it a case of cleaning and lubricating the gear mechanism that gets sticky over time and needs to be cleaned and lubricated?

Help, I miss playing my 60's records.

Hi Johnbee & welcome to beoworld.

Very common with these and normally just ceased up due to old dry lubrication. There are a fair few threads covering this THIS being one with a very good photo to compliment it.

    I agree.

These points are most prone to this and in rarer cases a third point inside the arm housing.
