The battery capacity and charging time of my beo5 are exactly as described in the official beo5 technical specifications sheet.

The B&O stated battery standby and charging details are:-

  • Battery capacity in Standby is 12 days
  • Active time typical 18 hours ( 3 hours continually) Charging time 5 hours
  • Battery Capacity is 1,350 mAh, 2.5V
  • Charging via the USB is 5V at 90mA
  • Charging via the adapter is 5V at 400mA
  • I understand that a few batteries have failed with symptoms of not lasting very long off the charger.

It is recommended that when the Beo5 is not actually in use it is left on the table charger.

My wife is being difficult regarding leaving the Beo5 on the charger 24/7 - thinks it unsafe.  She wants a Beo4 anyway! What do others do?

Can the base be connected via USB to the computer for charging?

Yes, it can, but the charging is very slow. I leave my Beo5 in the charger only by night, and I never had any problem with batteries.

Leaving the Beo5 on the table charger when not in use is not a problem and it has been designed  to do just that.

It is certainly not unsafe leaving it on the charger, in fact the Beo5 software actually monitors the charging of the battery and when the battery is fully charged there will be no current to speak of flowing.

If you wife is not concern about leaving your computer switched on, then she certainly should not need to be concerned about the Beo5
