AV 5 picture tube swap options/mods

For an AV 5 with a broken tube I'm looking for info on the following: the AV 5 is fitted with the picture tube A59ESF002X11 (Philips), a known troublemaker....
Now to replace this one, B&O supplies a new tube and a modification kit (to adapt the electronics to the new tube specs).
Is there anyone out here who knows what's the new type of tube fitted (possibly A59ECK002X11) and what the modification entails ?
Obviously i can order the whole thing from B&O but they charge 440,- euro for it, so the only (reasonable) alternative would be getting a tube from anywhere else and do the mods.

A tube from an LX5000 will fit ... but needs some modifications ...

Ahh yeah, you're right !!, now i remember: the LX4500/5000 had A59 tubes (but probably ECK type).
Now the big question is what the modifications are, getting an LX5000 tube shouldn't be hard....:)
    Thanks so far Neil !!

Interesting project, let us know if it is possible and how difficult it is. There are many cheap broken beovisions out there, so mending a broken one is very interesting imo.

Yeah, it's fun and a bit of a challenge. For some models there are cheaper nice solutions than the 'official' one ( i already put a new 32" tube in an Avant for less than 200,-).
In this way they can be saved from the scrap heap for a while and also maintain B&O's reputation for long lasting tvs (because, like in this case of the AV5 just being 9 years old and bought for something like 2000 euro and basically now it's a write-off doesn't exactly help much in keeping this reputation....).
However: only work on tvs if you know what you're doing, it's not a 'toy' !!, but like most B&O equipment also most tvs are a pleasure to work on because of the way they're put together and the technology.

Have the doc on the mods now....so now i have to see what the owner wants :).
In the doc it doesn't mention which type of tube is the replacement one and also i'm not clear if it needs different mounting-bushings but it looks like it doesn't, so if anything i'll try my luck with an LX5000 tube.
