    channel changing with MX5000/VX5000

Back in another lifetime I sold a customer the above VCR/TV combo.  He called me today.  It's developed a programming bug.

Starting a day or two ago, when he uses his Beolink 5000 remote to step up or down to the next cable channel, instead the TV goes to a black screen and says "device".  If he uses the "go to" button, he can direct access a station, but he can't step to it any more.

He doesn't have the manuals.  I don't have the support material, either.  Any ideas of what got messed up and how to re-program the system to correct it?

    Hi and welcome to BeoworldSmile

The first thing I would suggest is to unplug the TV for a good 10 minutes from the power supply - this will perform a hard reset.

Manuals are available on the main site of Beoworld to silver & gold members. You may be able to find them on the official B&O website but I'm not too sure.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

On the US MX-5000, there are 3 RF inputs, which are remotely selectable. "Device" is one of these. Tell the owner to simply switch the inputs. On the Beolink 1000, this was done by pressing the "ABC" key. There must be a equivalent button on the Beolink 5000.

     Regards,
