    Beolab 9's with a beovision 3

    Hi guys,

I've just bought a new pair of lab 9's which are replacing my lab 8's and lab 2 which are connected to a beovision 3. The nearest speaker match on my Beovision 3 for the speakers is the Beolab 1's.

The Beolab 9's sound very bass light and i just wondered how i could increase the bass? As it looks as though i may have to keep my beolab 2.

Have you still got the sub woofer box ticked? Disconnect it and say no sub woofer. If no better a software update could be necessary.

    Hi Peter,

I'd already disconnected the Beolab 2 and selected no subwoofer on the menu, thanks for the suggestion though. Is a software update possible for my set.....i presumed it wasn't as it had been discontinued.

I'd try BeoLab 5 if it's an option in your speaker menu.

On top of that, check the position settings on the BeoLab 9s. It may well be the case that you've been used to a very bass-heavy sound with your BeoLab 2 (they often seem to be set up to give more bass than they should).

Which surround sound decoder do you have? Either the DSS or the later AC3/DTS version?...

    Hi guys,

I don't have the Beolab 5 option on the screen, only have Beolab 1. Also, i don't know which dolby decoder it has, though i think it has DTS, it has powerlink sockets for fronts rears and the beolab 2. I don't know if that helps?

Go into the service menu ( press go, 0, 0, go on the Beo4 while setup is highlighted in the on screen menu ) then select monitor, then monitor information.

Mine has a list of information above the type no.s and serial no.s... it lists the add ons (STB-C), and iin my case, (AC3)

Have a look, and go to your dealer for a software update!! It's only around 80 pounds ($180AU) then you sould be able to choose the BL5 option for your BL9's.

So there's no sw update to allow the choice of BL9 on a BV3 or Avant then? Huh?

Do you have a B&O audio system, if so try connecting the BL9's direct to it. Try a few of the same music tracks when the speakers are connected to the Avant (with BL1 selected) with and without the sub and with the BL9's connected to the audio system....

The BL9 was launched after the demise of the BV3
