Experience with STB-C and modern DVB-T boxes with harddrives

    Hi,

I have asked this question in the Scandinavian subforum, but tries again here.

I feed my Avant DVD from an 8 year old Sagem DVB-T box. This works withot flaws.

I'm about to upgrade to a recording box, preferably to a twin-tuner one.

Does anyone have experience of such a combo?

Is the integration good? Can everything be controlled from the Beo4?

    /Peter

Upgrading your STB to a PVR with twin tuners and controlled by the Beo4 is no problem, many units are supported and work perfectly on the AVANT DVD.

All the most popular units are supported and you just need to decide which one you will purchase.

    Thank you,

I was afraid that the integration would not be that good as a twin-tuner harddrive box is such a different beast compared to a ordinary box, which functions-wise maps almost 1-to-1 to the well established primitives of the built-in analog tuner.

The use-cases I can think of in decreasing order of importance are:

    1. Most important is that watching tv in real-time works as expected.

    2. Pausing and catching up within a show.

    3. Navigating EPG:s

    4. Watching recorded shows.

    5. Timer controlled recordings.

    6. Setting up more complex recording scenarios.

    7. Box configuration

The first two should work using beo4 buttons without accessing menus.

My current box only support use case 1 & 7, so obviously integrating modern boxes is much more complex.

All the common PVR STB's will support all of your 7 seven requirements via the Beo4.

I suggest you review the PVR you plan to buy and come back and we can go through all the functions of that box which are controlled by the Beo4

I was planning to buy a Topfield box.

Unfortunately there seems to no support for those boxes in the STB-C for my region.

    Peter,

The following Topfield boxes are supported:-

    TF4000PVR

    TF5000PVR

    TF5800PVR

They are all contained in the Central Europe chip (8344786)

B&O split the chips into regions because there was not enough memory space to add them all into one, but you can have any regions chip installed in your AVANT DVD

    Regards Keith....
