BeoVision 7 32" DVD to BlueRay

Does somebody know if B&O will give the customers of BV7 an option to change the built in DVD player with new BlueRay player? This would be nice.

No. There's no point either - you don't have a HD screen, no 1080p, no ability to decode HD audio or anything, sadly. You'd be paying £400+ for a waste of player. Simply use SD DVDs and enjoy.

There is no reason why not. Just wait a bit though and see real world performance of this unit, how it handles SDdvd playback, if the player is profile 2 compliant and how it is updated and how often- !!

I don't understand that screen is not HD as I have payed for HDTV upgrade (module) and am looking HD TV at present.

How about additional blue ray player (not built in)?

Unfortunately, it's only the Mk3 1080p panel BeoVision 7 - 40" that can have the Blu-Ray player retro-fitted.  Could it be something to do with the fact it has the BeoSystem 3 engine in it? I don't know..

However - it is 100% correct that there has been no mention of a retro-fit on the 32".

The HD upgrade is merely a module that enables the DVI socket to watch HDCP protected HD content (such as Sky HD content). HD content on your BV7-32 (through Sky or similar) will still look good. However, a Blu-ray picture is sent to your TV at 1080p, which is 'true hd' and would have to be downgraded to be seen on your BV7-32. The BV7-32 can't decode the HD audio either.

So, Blu-ray on the BV7-32 isn't going to offer a better experience than SD DVDs, in most cases. Trust me, I watched SD DVD content on my BV7-32 for years and it's pretty darned good. SD TV on a new BV7-32 is better than on a BV7-40 MKIII.

You mean the new one? The forthcoming update? The current one doesn't.

The BV7 32 is not Full HD, but is HD ready, so the screen is at least 720p.

DVD has a slightly lower resolution.

A BlueRay would in theory still give a better picture... but until someone tests it we won't know for sure.
