    Hmmm new Ipods

They are out for few hours and no post.

I am underwhelmed. I didnt expect much change but thought they would do a 64mb 499$ Ipod touch.

Anyway, the genius function is what I thought B&O would do. Tha lack of intrst stresses even more how an inviting UI is a must for this .......... Somehow Apple didnt get that communicated right. Fo rmost, genus should be a kick ass feature.

Just got mine working! It took all yesterday evening for Genius to sort out my Library - first impressions are excellent!

I was hoping for some proper apps for my Touch. The Nike+ app will need a new iPod Touch, booo.

Do I understand correctly that the Nano's screen will be curved?

The Nano itself is curved, but I think the screen is flat. Don't know for sure, though...

That sounds more like it - I thought it was daft to have a curved screenLaughing

They have also dropped the iPod classic 160Gb - glad I got mine when I did!

I love the new Genius function on iTunes - making up all sorts of playlists which I would not have thought of.

iTunes 8 is downloading as I type. It'll be interesting to see if it manages to work our that I like Eddie Reader, Rush and Ultravox (before Midge Ure of courseBig Smile) among others, on the same compilation/playlist (currently in the car CD Player at the moment)

    Re: Hmmm new Ipods

3rd go and it's included the same song twice (from a selection of 2850) in a playlist of 25 songs. It seems the "Genius" function is a little more modest than they claim. To be honest I've had a better compilations from the "Party Shuffle" feature which is all but random.

Is it meant to learn as you go on or does it just speculate from the genres assigned to music when you import it?

If it gets any better over the coming days I'll be sure to let you know.

How many tracks does it have to choose from? Mine has nearly 29,000. So far no duplications! Would be interesting to compare choices made for specific tracks!

Some are a little odd though. Pink Moon by Nick Drake produced some strange bedfellows! 'I am a Cider Drinker' by the Wurzels didn't spring straight to my mind!!

I suspect I am more of a "Genius" in deciding what I'd like to listen tooBig Smile

I've since selected another three "can't find a list" songs (out of 2850). I've decided Its just me, I like strange stuffLaughing

re. - "Aye, Fond Kiss", how can you not find a match to the words of Rabbie Burns set to music!

p.s. - I too could have almost 29,000 tracks in itunes if I too stooped as low as the WurzelsLaughing

True................ its easy to fill your iPod but you must be careful not to include songs whereby you'd rather steer your car into oncoming traffic than listen, if you intend listening in your carLaughing

    Re: Hmmm new Ipods

Speaking of iTunes, does anyone else find it is absolute rubbish at finding the album artworks??Angry

I would estimate that I've had to manually provide the artwork for nearly half of my collection. Just today I ripped Grace (Jeff Buckley) which can hardly be called obscure. iTunes told me it couldn't find the artwork but when I ripped it using MS Media Player (for someone else) it provided the artwork without even asking.

I think they their time would be better spent sorting this out rather than pratting on with new visualisations etc.

Agree - particularly useless at classical music. I tend to search for the album on Amazon and then nick the picture!

    Re: Hmmm new Ipods

I saw the Ipod touch today at the Apple Store. The stainless back is nice even though it was completely scratched on the back. It's thin. Flipping through titles was still a bit sluggish (same as with G1) and it seemed that when the internal sensor that adjust the screen was broken since when turned to the side it did not switch to the cover flow mode.

The Nano's were much smaller then I expected them based on the pictures.

I think I might switch to a touch once they have 64 MB, the only concern I have is that the I think Alex posted here that the sound with touch and iphone is much worse then on a normal Ipod.

I don't think we will see the 64 before christmas but early next year? That should be doable.

If you sure that your songs managed by iTunes genius functions are secure ?
What happens if the music stored in your iTunes Library are not your own ?
I mean you don't have buy them ?

--- > If you activate genius all your music lists stored in iTunes are send over to apple ?!?
---> Ja, wird nur über den Store angeboten und der schickt auch alle Daten, deiner Musikstücke an
