Re: Some news from the dealer conf in the french forum

Some say the Beomaster5 is in fact a rebranding of the Beomedia1, with new software and the older Beomedia1 could be converted to Beomaster5 with the next software upgrade.

The Beosound5 can display the content and control the songs being played.

I am hoping that you could place several Beosound5 for 1 Beomaster5.

Maybe link rooms that do not have a Beosound5 can access the interface via the TV set, like for the Beomedia1 today.

So much suspense! so many expectations!

The BeoMedia 1 and the BeoMaster 5 are identical until you look at the back. Then the inside. Sorry.Whistle

I remember we were given a hint that it will be two way during the meal in Struer.

But the specifications of the Beo5 are on the B&O site... and I would find it strange that they publish incomplete/false specs.

I however would love the remote to be 2 way! But I prefer not to convince myself that it will be and then be disappointed.

    p.

I strongly remember the same hint that Rie gave us. Regarding specifications online, why write "Bluetooth" if one cannot use it. I think that it would only cause questions that the dealers cannot answer, if they write Bluetooth, or some other hidden capability. On a side note I have heard that Beo5 can be used as a learning remote, but it depends on the software on the PC, meaning that IR codes can be transmitted through USB to a PC and then converted to Beo5 language.

I am normally optimistic, and maybe especially in this case, but I believe that the Beo5 is capable of much more than we know today. Excuse me, but why on earth would they make a new Beo4 in a different wrapping? Zones are nice, but not that clever, and certainly not a brand new concept.

My interpretation of "Bang & Olufsen introduces a fully-flexible and personalized remote that can handle operation of any product combination, even products with features and functions that we do not know yet." quoted from the press release for Beo5, is that it is able to handle new features in the BeoSound5, meaning 2 way, or some thing similar.

I have to admit that while I genuinely have no idea whether there is dormant bluetooth, dormant 2-way, dormant learning capabilities, etc, there has been a previously unseen level of "winking" surrounding the Beo 5. I have no idea what this could mean, but all sorts of things that were once winked at have come to pass in time.

This of course make sense.  However I will ask the question differently.  Can a Beosound 5 be attached to a Beomedia 1 instead of a Beomaster 5?  I guess this would mean that the Beomedia 1 would have a software upgrade.

If this is the end of the line for the Beomedia 1, it will certainly go into the list of the worst products from B&O.

End of the line? I don't know about that. It could hold doors open, keep papers from blowing away, prop up table legs, really the possibilities are endless.

If that is how a product ends up that was introduced 2006, they need to rethink their venture into the digital world. Price it like a Ipod then.

One simple question: How long do us "normal" folks have to wait for (even unofficial) photos of the notorious bs5/bm5. Im dying here.

Re: Some news from the dealer conf in the french forum

Well, I'm sure the reason for the lack of any images is that B&O and David Lewis Partners are tight and small. B&O keep all mfg in house, all mockups are probably tightly held and maybe only a few dozen people know what things look like... Much easier to control leaks.

Apple, on the other hand, when the behemoth gets close to marketing, has all of it's infrastructure and logistics (companies in China, accessory makers, etc) ready to supply at the launch date... Thousands of people probably know what an item looks like.

When was the last time B&O launched a product and it was available the same day?

Further to that, I think 95% of all "leaks" nowadays are intentional. Perhaps B&O just doesn't want to market that way?

I didnt think that the last leaks for Apple were intentional. They pretty much gave it all away and dint have much to show to begin with.

I think we know actually a lot about the BS5. Its

    all here including

    BS9000, BS2300, BC2, BL2500, BL3, Bl2, BS1, BV8, BC4, A8

    Dear All:

Just in from sheep invested pastures & smoked, darkened labs with over abundance of 'winking',  Beosound 5/Beomaster 5, in combination with Beo5 will not only let you control, see, rearrange, link, and more your music, some video, & internet; but, restore the confidence of the world markets, bring clean water to the masses, & last but not least, calm middle east & russian tensions with the west.  And all you have to do & sit patiently & go shopping at the 'right' time.  Stay tuned for more news from Denmark & company...

Re: Some news from the dealer conf in the french forum

I think that many of us here will remember that a couple of photos of the BeoCenter 2 were secreted out of the Dealer Meeting prior to its launch.  B&O were said to be furious at this 'betrayal' by the dealers, and have taken measures since to prevent even that sort of leak.  I know that dealers were shown a physical mock-up of the BeoSound 5 as long ago as last year, and a few close-up photos were used in the holiday marketing campaign last year.  Those photos are reproduced here in other threads.

Too bad Tolga Tuncer isn't still hanging around with us!

The BS5/BM5 will only support Audio and pictures like the old beomedia!  So no Video support !

B&o have instead made a relation with the media brand Tvix as Video suplier...

That really ought to surprise no-one (save the 'Dude' perhaps), since the name is BeoSound 5, not BeoCenter 5.  Be glad that photos are supported!

I think those features were reserved for the BeObama 8, having slipped their original delivery date (typical B&O) with the discarded BeoAl 2000.

Beosound 5 sounds hot! However, 500gb only? I have come to realize that many new harddisk players are looking very high-tech indeed; maybe because of the colour touchscreens? Anyways I just bought the new Olive which was introduced just weeks ago. I am so glad I found an affordable good-looking harddisk player. The interface on the Olive could be improved though since it is lacking download support for Mac and support of WPA2 wifi. http://www.olive.us/home.html . This is my first harddisk player and the fact that this has just been released I have no idea how Olive compare to the many others out there.
