    Beoport Registration for N. Radio

I need help in creating my registration with my new Beoport. The 4.81 downloaded without any issue and all functions are working accept the station listing for N. Radio. There is a note that says not registered, but I have indeed registered several times! I uninstalled and started over and I still have the same problem. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Re: Beoport Registration for N. Radio

A warm welcome to Beoworld and your first posting..

There have been some problems related to registration effecting members depending on system configuration, mostly related to browser version.

Newer browsers like Windows Internet Explorer 7 or newer can provide problems. BeoPlayer/BeoPort uses WININET to connect to the registration server. This routine is handled differently in the newer browsers.

To narrow the problem down we need to review the key elements of your configuration as follows:-

    • Are you using Internet Explorer version 7 ?
    • Are you behind a firewall other than the one in Windows ?
    • When you registered, are you sure that your registration was accepted as the error message can be easierly missed ?

    Regards Keith....

Re: Beoport Registration for N. Radio

Thank you for the kind welcome and the support.

I am using version 7.0.5730.11, and a McAfee firewall. You are correct that I am not getting to the point of registration. Here is what happens:

    1) I first get a screen that asks me to log in or register.

    2) I go to register which gives me another screen to enter name, address, etc.......

    3) When I hit the submit button the header says "Waiting for Server", but the information that inputed still is on the screen, BUT my name prefix and several other questions go blank......

    4) The menu dissapears and, the BeoPlayer comes on, and I am not registered!!!!!

The exact header on the last screen "waiting for server response", and what I noticed is that the missing information is related to the fields that have pull down menus. They all go blank with the exception of Country and Age.

Re: Beoport Registration for N. Radio

Based on your feedback, I have been doing a little deeper research into the problem and I am surprised with the results I have concluded.

In the latest version of the Beoport software when you register for the first time it uses a file called "BeoPortalRegistration.dll" which contacts the B&O server at http://beoportal.bang-olufsen.dk however if you use the "Ping" command to see if it is alive you find it cannot resolve the DNS address. Why, you ask, well to my surprise I find that beoportal.bang-olufsen.dk is not DNS register meaning no one can contact it unless they know the IP address

So, what has changed, well the registration file noted above was updated by B&O on 29th March 2008 which appears to mean that no new user could register from that date, if you are already registered, then no problems.

Because Beoport could not resolve the address it just carried on, the programmer does not seem to have considered that the DNS could not be resolved, but just carries on.

If any other new users of Beoport have the same problem, then please register the fact on this thread.

In the meantime I suggest you report the issue to your dealer and I will send an e-mail to B&O

    Regards Keith....

Re: Beoport Registration for N. Radio

Thank you so much for your support. Through my dealer I was able to contact the staff in Chicago and they went right to work on the situation. (I also referenced this thread.) They contacted Denmark and we are awaiting a response. Great work Keith, I will post as soon as there is some sort of update.

Other than the N. Radio registration issue, the BeoPort is excellent!

Re: Beoport Registration for N. Radio

    Just installed the 4.82.

There seems to be a major problem with this version. Nothing is playing apart from the photos. Both N.Music and N.Radio are not playing at all.

To N. Radio it mentions unable to connect to all stations and in N, Music although I can see all my 26.000 songs not even one is playing!!!!!! Obviously they have messed up everything. And I have it registered since a few years back so I guess this is not the issue in my case.

Dear Keith, any ideas what's wrong?

Until last night I had my N.music distributed around the house and now nothingSuper Angry

    Best regards

Was the previous version you had installed and working version 4.81 ? if not which version did you previously have installed and working ?

Do you have Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed on your PC ?

    Regards Keith....

    Good morning Keith.

After 2 restarts everything is more or less working. Just for information I have previously installed the 4.81 and it is Windows XP Pro SP2.

    Best regards

Re: Beoport Registration for N. Radio

    Dear Keith,

I am a new user of BeoPort.

Just installed ver. 4.82 for the first time...

I think it works fine, except for N.Radio, where I am having the same problems with the registration form mentioned earlier by other forum members.

It is very disappointing, because I bought the BeoPort, so I could listen to Internet radio through my BeoSound 3200 system.

Do you have a solution or workaround?

Re: Beoport Registration for N. Radio

    Dear Keith,

I got a reply from B&O BeoCare in Struer, Denmark today, which I contacted yesterday by phone to get a solution to the N.RADIO registration trouble...

I can tell you, that B&O has solved the problem, so it is now possible to do a registration under ver. 4.81.

In this moment I am listening to music from the Internet.

    Regards,

    Erik de Maré
