Hi,

I am using BeoCom6000 (PSTN) connected to an internet router (FritzBox) which is plugged via a splitter into the telephone box. I am using an analog broadband telephone extension. In Germany called 'Analog DSL'.

Since I need an answering machine I would like to prefer an answering machine from B&O such as BeoTalk 1200. But even after reading the technical publication from B&O on the website, their latest Product Catalogues and the User's Manual about BT1200 I still don't know whether the combination of BeoCom6000 (PSTN) and BeoTalk1200 connected to an analog telephone mainline would work.
I think it cannot work since an analog telephone extension only supports one line entry.... But based on B&O all combinations seem to be possible and such a stupid problem as described from my side does not exist...

In the B&O shop they made an offer to me for a new telephone complex... But this offer was very expensive and I see no need to exchange the BeoTalk 6000 since it is working fine. Also I don't want to change to ISDN just because of an answering machine...
Thus, I am still in hope that these three components could work together...Is there anyone who could enlighten my technical understanding outside the 'B&O Catalogue language'?

I use a system with 3 Beocom 6000s,a Beocom 2, a Beotalk 1200 and an internet router all attached to one line. As long as you have filters attached, it seems to work OK. Having said that, I think the Beotalk 1200 is not B&O's finest hour - one of the few products for which you need the manual - repeatedly!

What do you mean with 'filters'? Is this something I can get together with BeoTalk1200 at B&O? (I suppose a very stupid question... )

Also - I still haven't bought BeoTalk1200 yet. Maybe it would be better to take the previous version, BeoTalk1100?? I only want to record/leave messages with acceptable sound quality - that's all. Thus, I would not need any extra functions probably supported by BeoTalk1200. Do you have an idea whether BeoTalk1100 is easier to handle than the latest version? Thanks again, Jana

 

No! The BT1100 is just as bad! You cannot get these new. By filter, I mean an ADSL filter which allows broadband and telephone line to work together. Any electrical store sells them.

I love my BeoTalk 1200. Its the best answer-machine on the market. However its true you have to use the manual regularly.

Answering maschine: well maybe I have to evaluate it again, but my last one was from Siemens, it worked more than 10 years very fine, but till the last day the manual was required to simply enter date and time anew....so, I am just in that hope B&O cannot be this bad (they have the big advantage of not being Germans:-); bye, Jana (from Germany of course..)
