It is not normal in my view.

How loud is the hum ? or is it more of a buzz ? 

I'd try the obvious first. Flip the power cable, change it, disconnect powerlink, ML....failing those options...

Dont think they swap the internals out on these anymore, if it's under warranty it would be a replacement or out of warranty a new box..
