Hi:I'm wondering if BS Overture/4000 owners could share with me their experiences with the types of CDs that are playable on this system.
Recently I discovered that my BS 4000 would not play CDRWs and is also picky about the certain CDRs. My unit has the Philips CDM 12.1, the linear optical pickup, not the radial pickup.
In contrast, my CDX and BC 9500, both radial pickups will play everything I have given it.
Thanks!Derek
It does play CDRs, but is picky about which ones. A recent batch that I made on my plextor with Mitsui CDRs (one of the better brands)skips on it.
CDRs made 10 years years ago have performed just fine.
The unit has a new CDM 12 optical pick up on it.
I'm just a bit surprised to find that my 9500 and CDX (both older units) seems more compatible especially since both play CDRWs.
Peter will yours play CDRWs?

Hi Beodim:
Thanks for your response. Does your Ouverture play CDRs universally well? Have you ever had any problem CDRs that skip on that machine?Derek
Derek, I have only very few "home-made" CD-Rs and all of them play without any problems. Interestingly my Ouverture only had problems with playing some copy-protected CDs.
