Yes you can, Beo4 was intended as the replacement for Beolink 1000 But if i were you, i would see if i could find a used Beolink 5000 instead, then you will get 2-way communication and info/programming ability on the remote /Weebyx

Haribo, if I were you I would use a Beo4 and start looking for another Beolink 1000 if programming is needed. Weebyx has a point about the programming and two-way but the Beolink 5000 is just bad compared to the other two. It will continually loose contact, the range is not as good and it doesn't feel as good ergonomically. And IMHO two-way is not that big a deal. I have had a BS4500 and tried all three remotes working it but actually ended on Beo4 after all programming was done. Also keep in mind that your BM4500 might not support two-way. I forgot from which SW version two-way is supported but others will probably fill me in. Hope it helps :)

Haribo: Thanx a lot for help. I bought Beo 4 yesterday and all works fine for me. Ergonomicly its just amazing, even better then heavy beolink 1000 imo.
Yes, if you don't need the programming options, then the Beo4 is fantastic. /Weebyx

evman140: Can you program the radio stations/frequencies with the 5000?
Yes, you can. But if the BM4500 isn't a two-way version the BL5000 will effectively work as a flimsy BL1000. BM4500 supports two-way from SW 2.0 or 2.1 (can't remember which). I would definitely get a BL1000, it is excellent!

evman140: bad news man, i already picked up the beo4 haha
The Beo4 is an excellent remote as well even though tuning radio stations on a BM4500 is not possible. Beo4 will work everyday functions perfectly so if you know someone who has a BL1000 you could borrow it for tuning and then use the Beo4.

I had a BM 4500 before and as far as I remember you don't need a rc to set the stations. You can use the panel of the BM to do so. Just look at this. Ralf

You're correct, but it would be nice to be able to search/scan/ radio stations and store from the Beo4 something which was possible with the 1000.

Is A.SETUP already added to the List ? Although not directly relevant to tuning, it is handy for adjusting bass/treble/loudness/balance/sound store.

evman140: Yes, it is. By the way I just shot you another email. When attempting to tune it (BM4500) via touch panel, according to the manual picture, I do not have some of the buttons depicted in the manual on my touch panel. Such as "GO TO", "STORE" (they are displays in green however), or the "<" & ">", just volume up and down arrows.
They appear in green when you touch PROGRAMMING

Yes, they are. You use them to tune the radio and store settings. The BM4500 shows the available buttons after you press PROGRAMMING.

They should appear when you touch the green GOTO the options you have : - < / > : auto search - 0-9 : manually enter the frequency - AM/FM : switch bands - STORE : store current frequency and so on.
Do you have the manual ?
