Expectations for the 2008/09 financial year
Product portfolio
" A new audio concept designed to set new standards for enjoying music in the home. The concept is an important step in the new way of living with, and experiencing, music in the converging digital world. The product combines the very best from Bang & Olufsen’s long tradition of producing sublime audio systems with the digital world of the present and future. In the second half year, the BeoVision 8 family will be increased by a 40 inch version. Towards the end of the financial year, Bang & Olufsen expects to build on the BeoVision 4 family by launching a new product, which in size and functionality will set new standards within Bang & Olufsen’s video portfolio. Towards the end of the financial year, Bang & Olufsen will launch a new concept for land line telephony"

1. Beosound 5 - I do hope it is as good as advertised. 2. BV8-40 - will finally have a surround sound module so can be used as a main set. 3. BV4-103" - I can't see this troubling the scorers in my house! 4. Don't know about this one!

Hi mr anders son, thanks for sharing this news! I think product development is in the slow lane. In report 2006/07 the new audio concept (for us the beosound 5) was promised before summer 2008. The new land line phone is good news) Regards, Robert

What I find interesting is that they do not give a detailed time frame for the BS5. They just say it will come, but not when while for the remainder of the product launches they do.
BS9000, BS2300, BC2, BL2500, BL3, Bl2, BS1, BV8, BC4, A8

So you haven't heard of Mr I. Gessitt, the man in charge of 'New Product Launch Dates' then?

I'm afraid i only get old products through my shop - not the new releases. However, i can tell you without question that the launch date for BeoSound 9000 is to be some time in 1996, and the BeoLab 5 is due for release in the spring of 2003. How's that ?!! Lee

I heard rumours about the phone (number 4). It will be called Beocom 5 and it has a speaker. Don't know anything else about it...
Beoworld's twenty-eighth ninth prize winner and fifty-first second prize winner. Best £30 I've ever spent!

Interesting news about the new landline telephone concept! I only wish the BV8-40 was scheduled to be released sooner, especially if it, as rumoured, has more than one HDMI and a DSS module! I will probably be getting a BV8 around Oct, the 40" may be a better option than the 32" if it had been launched. Oh well, we'll see in time I guess! Robert.

Well if you want some form of date for BeoSound 5, this is what ol' Torben said in an interview with The Times in early January of this year. My dealer has suggested a more believable early 2009 lauch date. I am pretty sure B&O would have already made a big hype about BeoSound 5 if it was coming before Christmas. "We have so many ideas, the difficulty is selecting them. The next thing we are working on is how to merge computer technology into your living room without an ugly PC in there. Within 12 months we will have a product you’ve never seen before which can navigate your entire collection of music, and you’ll hear music you’ve never heard, using neural intelligence to take you to music." The BeoCom 5 is probably something to keep us happy in the meantime

If we could shy away a little from the word 'concept' when they mention a new telephone, and try and think replacement for BeoCom 6000... Lee

I was more hoping that it would compliment the much loved Beocom 6000. The only improvement I could make to the 6000 would be a speakerphone. Please B&O, can you make it compatible with our existing 6000 setup?

That they stop the BS9000 is shocking to me. That is the the product that reflects what B&O should be. It just needs a facelift. Thank god I have one ........

Dear All: What's the source of the information? I am looking forward to the new sound system. The margin for error is very thin on this one. Dario

Dear All: How's the BV 8 different from the BV 7? Thanks, Dario

B&O is worried about having missed one generation of customers in recent years, and by stating that they will launch a new concept for land line telephony they must be eager to stress that: Young people do not sign up for "land line telephony" in this millennium. It's like ignoring the fact that "the missed generation" use their mobile phones for various tasks, and the smallest of them being actually talking over the phone, and then launch mobile phones that only focus on this task (sound quality, comfort while talking etc) and ignoring the rest. There is more than hype behind the success of the iPhone (compared to the failure of the Serenata to sell in any numbers at all). Roger
