    Thread Ratings

Sort of a complaint for the mods here, but it appears that a member "Westlander" has rated every thread on the first page of the general forum 1 star out of 5, not sure if it's intentional, but it doesn't look well and ought to maybe be sorted out?

I'll join your rant!  Most annoying, isn't it.
I'm sure he can't be doing it deliberately, perhaps he puts a star next to it to say he's read it or something.

    Poor me, never win owt!

I think we get freedom to express ourselves verbally by posting on the forum, whereas ranking all posts as one star could be perceived to be a bit of a sly dig, without exposing one's self to any questioning from other forum members. If it causes some tension, why not temporarily suspend the ranking system and see how we get on without it?

As for the forum being 'one star' - I agree to a point that activity has dipped, but I've thought some of the recent threads have been really excellent, and it has been nice to see new members chipping in :)

I actually mentioned in the 7,000 member thread that even though we have had little to talk about in the way of new releases, we have still kept talking..  I agree with you Richard that new products are the lifeblood of any forum though, and without these it's difficult.

I do try my very best, as do a hardcore of members and moderators - to keep the site flowing and interesting, and for what we have i think we do a pretty good job.

We have a lot in front of us to discuss, and personally i think B&O are going to be hitting another equivalent of 'Break Point' here in the UK if things don't change quickly. This said, we have new blood and new ideas at both UK and Denmark Head Offices - so let's sit back and watch B&O history unfold. That will give us something to talk about, surely!

Have to admit I never take notice of the ratings system. Is it just me or are other members the same?

Ratings- smatings - don't know how to do it - don't care! If there's something I want to comment on I will, I don't care what others think of the thread. Ban them (ratings that is, not the raters) for me, they mean nothing!

Btw, I would have given this thread five stars if I knew howWhistle

    Re: Thread Ratings

Now that you've peekd my interest - just how do you rate a thread (I need to give this 0 if possible but 1 if I'm pushed) - I have never felt the need before and now I find I don't know how to do it anyway!

Edit : Found it! - now that I know I shall happily ignore it foreverBig Smile

Lee I see your point, but at the same time if we have a member or members who indiscriminately rate the threads as 1-stars, and then we have to counter-rate them with 5-stars just to get the rating up, then all we've accomplished is a click-war.  It would defeat the purpose of the rating system to simply turn the system into a measure of who can out-click each other.  Is there any harm in sending a PM to the member responsible and just ask them to stop, or ask them why they've been doing it?

Duh How could I possibly confuse you with a Dave, Austin?
I was just posting in advance in case some Dave or other was having trouble logging on. (He obviously is!)

I don't think so - Daves are patently better logger-inners than those folk who's first names start with "A".
