    DVD controller?

I have heard about such a device that allows me to use my Beo4 with a non-B&O DVD player.

    Anyone have any details?

    Cost?   (available in the US?)

Possibly not very useful in the US as it is a glorified SCART lead with a power supply and an integrated IR eye. Relatively limited number of supported products but works quite well. About £150 in the UK. Seems to have been overtaken by an improved STB-C called the PUC (Peripheral Unit Controller).

    Re: DVD controller?

I thought that there were different versions of the DVD controller for different manufacturers' DVD players. Did I misunderstand? Mark

    Mark,

There is just two versions of the DVD controller Mark I & Mark II with the software being the key difference

If you have a Mark II DVD controller, the software can be updated which allows the support of the previously quoted DVD players.

It should be noted that many other DVD players will work, but have never been tested by B&O.

    Re: DVD controller?

How do you tell whether you are being offered a Mk I or a Mk II? I take it from your comment that the Mk I is tied to a particular manufacturer (so you need to ensure you get the right one), whilst the Mk II supports all five - is that correct? Mark

I haven't tried these, but might be worth to take a look.

The Mk2 is just an updated version of the Mk1. A new one will always be a Mk2.

I here you guys talking about SCART all of the time - but what is it?

     Is it different than HDMI?

Or is this just another of a long line of B&O stuff that is not available in various 3rd world countries like the U.S.?

    Re: DVD controller?

Having looked at the site which JK suggested, it seems that the 3rd party controllers translate control signals from the SCART on the back of the TV into the right signals for a particular DVD player. Does that mean that the SCART port needs to be set to DVD1? Does this mean that you couldn't share the same SCART for a controlled DVD and a STB controlled by STB-C, since each port can only be set to *one* of these input types? Mark

    Hi Keith,

you mention that the MKII can work with the Onkyo DV-S525 model, but that model does not have a scart connector, so I think this could be a typo, I believe it should be the Onkyo DV-S535, which is a fine DVD and CD player that uses Burr-Brown DAC's, so the sound quality is superb !
