    CD7000 to BC9500: how to connect and control?

    Dear all, I need to connect a second CD player to my Beocenter 9500. The purpose is twofold: (i) have a back-up player (as spare parts are no longer available for the internal player), and (ii) benefit from the "random" function (in order to play tracks in a random sequence, which the internal player cannot do).

    So I whish to buy a Beogram CD 7000, but I first need your advice on the following:

    1. Could you please confirm that the CD7000 definitely does have a "random" function?

    2. How should I connect a CD7000 to my BC9500 in order to remote control it thanks to Datalink: Aux or Tape2 socket?

    3. How could I remote control the CD7000, as most remotes do not have a "CD2" button?

    4. How could I access the "random" function through my different remotes:
        - Beolink 7000;
        - Beolink 5000;
        - Beolink 1000. and
        - Beo4?

    Thanks a lot for your valuable advice. Kind regards, Jean-Sebastien

    Answer to Q 1. You can program the CD 7000 to play the cd in a serden order by useing the "Seqnce" buttom on the BL 7000

    i got the manual in PDF if you want it

    Re: CD7000 to BC9500: how to connect and control?

    Blak, thanks a lot for your reply. I have got the manual, too, and it seems to show that the "Sequence" function enables to program a specific order (like on the BC9500), but not to let the CD7000 free to set a random sequence. I think the older CD5500 or the CD6500 may have got this "random" function, but the manual seems to show that it is not the case for the CD7000. This is the reason why I am asking the question.

    1. It does NOT have a RANDOM function,only the before-mentioned SEGNCE=Sequence function.

    the BeoGram CD 6500 got the same funktion as the CD 7000 i just looked in the manual, but i dont know if you can "cheat" the CD 6500/7000 to play "random". i can only say what´s in the manual.. ;)

    The CD7000 does not have any functions but  it takes it's instruction from whatever it is connected to! This in itself is a problem in this case as the 9500 will believe that the CD is a Phono turntable if you connect to AUX and a Tape Deck if you connect to Tape 2. There is no way to tell the 9500 that you are conecting CD2!

    The 9500 does not have RANDOM as far as I remember but does allow you to program a specific order of tracks from a tape.

    Regards Graham

    So what is CD2 for on the Beo4 remote? As far as I know there are no Beomasters then can support 2 CD players.

    You can connect a second CD player to a Beomaster 7000. Connect it instead of the record player. It will respond to Phono commands.
