Beomaster 6000 Quad - Bulb problems

Today I picked up a Beomaster 6000. Everything works apart from the bulbs or the volume and tone controls. So I removed the top plate and tested the bulbs with a multimeter. All of them seem to have blown, but I am not 100% sure this is the case. What I did try was swapping each of them with a working one from the tuner section. No change, I have voltage at the bulb holders but only around 8.5 volts. Where I believe it should be 12. Strangely though when I was testing one of the bulb holders for voltage it made one of the other bulbs light up. Even though the bulb which lit up test as been blown on my multimeter. My main question is though, the bulbs in the tuner are different from those in the tone controls. Even though the bulb holders are the same. Can I use the type fitted in the tuner in the tone controls, as these are easy to get. They look just like the bulbs fitted in various car dashboards.

    Hi Craig

You got another 6000 Quad with dodgy lamps and tone controls!? I spoke to Martin (Dillen) about this and he has these bulbs available. I'm sure he'll be along to offer you some expert advice.

The lamps in the dial and in the sound bars are the same specs.

Check the wedge sockets for cracked solders, it's very common to see in these machines.

Yes, I got my hands on another.Laughing All the tone controls work, they just don't light up.

Thanks Martin, I will have to get inside it properly and have a look. Not looking forward to it though, not a lot of space inside these.

Do not use bulbs from a car dashboard. These bulbs use more than 100mA, they become very hot... and some resistors, too. And other bulbs will also be damaged or become too dark.

The bulbs usually have 40-50mA and 14V spec, i dont know exactly the BM6000, but if the same bulbs are used like in a BM1200, then this spec is ok ;)
