    Connecting Beolab 3000 speakers

    Hi

Just  a quick enquiry re. connecting Beolab 3000 wall-panel speakers. I have recently revised my setup of Beosound 9000 connected to Beolab 3000 speakers. Unfortunately where I now have the player and speakers located one of the powerlink cables is no longer the right length to connect. My question : is the purpose of the two powerlink sockets on the back of each speaker so that they may be connected by "looping" a single powerlink cable into one speaker, then out of the second socket and onto the next speaker? I bought the speakers second-hand so don't have the original instructions, but I believe that I may have read somewhere that that is the reason for the two powerlink sockets. If that is the case then I will be able to connect the speakers without buying new leads.

Yes - called daisy chaining. Each powerlink cable carries both left and right information.

Don't forget to set speakers to correct location (left and right).

Hi, I have now the same set-up as Beofan (in 2008) meaning Beosound 9000 and Beolab 3000 in 'active' mode

I have just put it all together and unfortunately one of the speakers seems not to be working.

The light on the speaker is on, and the switches on the back are placed in correct position.

The only thing missing though -on the non working speaker- is the typical amp/speaker sound when the powercable is plugged in (as plugging in a guitar) ... is my thought correct that this indicate that the amplifier does not work? How to check and where to start?

    Thanks!

Are you sure that both speaker leads are Mk2 or sometimes called fully wired?

What happens if you swap the cables around?

Have you moved the switch on the side? Should be set to AUDIO

    Regards Graham

Great tip! Thanks, indeed the switch on the side, which I have not seen before in the 2 years that I have these speakers !

Used them as passive speakers before, but still ... maybe because they have been transported recently.

    All is working now

    Hi all,

Just went through 20 pages of various topics with beolab 3000 but could not found what I was looking for. So ... here goes nothing ... it can very well be that this has been answered before. If so .. i apologise but still would like to know Laughing

Recently one of the BeoLab's is making cracking sounds every now and then when in standby mode. What can could be the cause?

Current placement of this speaker is against a powersocket in the wall and with a powercord-extender close-by. Could this have a negative effect?

As cabling I have the thin (MK1) cables and the speakers are daisy-chained. Maybe there is some dust in the connectors or amplifier since the sound is that typical 'old speaker amplifier cracking'.

All tips and tricks are welcome!

    Hi,

Yes you can use the first powerlink to go to the beosound and the second power link to loop to the next speaker etc.. I've done the same with my Beolab speakers the first is connected to a beosystem 2300 the other three are connected through the powerlinks on the speakers.

The only thing you have to do on the speaker is choose the left or right signal.

You should be using Mk II powerlink cable.  It's thicker, fully wired, and offers better shielding than Mk I.  And it's required for the displays to work.

Thanks, have ordered them at B&O ... will test that first before opening up the speakers.
