    Re: Picture mute on Avant

I think the easiest way to attach the ipod is to connect it to the camcorder connection on the back of the avant.

Then you only need a cable between the ipod and the avant.

Then enter the menu, go to "connections" and press "menu". Now switch to "Camcorder" and press "go".

In the next menu "Camcorder" you can change it from "Camcorder" to "Vaux".

    Add "A-Vaux" in your Beo4.

    That's it.

The second option you have is to assign the AV or the Decoder scart to Vaux. Then you need an extra scart to coax adapter.

    Re: Picture mute on Avant

    Thanks for your helo Beobuddy.

I'm just not sure I fully understand!

Am I right in saying that I should:

    1. Connect the ipod behind the small display panel

    2. From standby, switch on the Avant via 'CAMCORDER' using the Beo4

    3. Then hit AV AUX on the Beo4 ?

I've tried this and the Avant screen is still on (although black - no picture)

    32" RF VCR Avant, 2 x 28" VCR Avant, DVD1, Beocom 6000, Beo5, A9 Keyring!

    That's the point.

By using the camcorder instruction on the Beo4 your screen will go on.

The option A-Camcorder isn't available in the Beo4.

If you rename the camcorder connection to V-Aux (as mentioned), you can use the A-Vaux instruction on the Beo4.

But you have to add the A-Vaux instruction in your Beo4.

Only then will the screen stay's in stand-by.

    Re: Picture mute on Avant

Oh ok. So how do you rename the camcorder connection?

You described going into the menu (I assume on the Avant and not the Beo4) and going into connections. I can't find 'Connections' in the setup menu on the Avant.

    32" RF VCR Avant, 2 x 28" VCR Avant, DVD1, Beocom 6000, Beo5, A9 Keyring!

You enter the menu, go to setup, and then you'll see "connections".

Go to connections, but don't press Go while you're on it. You have to press "menu".

Then "connections" changes to "camcorder' and then you press "Go".

Then you'll get acces to the "camcordermenu" and you're able to change camcorder to Vaux by using the arrow keys on the Beo4.

Press Go to confirm, then exit.

    Re: Picture mute on Avant

Perhaps I have a different software version on my Avant, but my menu structure is

    1. tuning

    2. sound

    3. picture

    4. stand

    5. sources

    6. menu

    7. clock

    8. v. tape

Does this mean I cannot hear my ipod through the Avant without the screen being on (all be it black)?

    32" RF VCR Avant, 2 x 28" VCR Avant, DVD1, Beocom 6000, Beo5, A9 Keyring!

You clearly have an early AVANT VCR which uses the word "Sources" instead of "Connections" !!

Highlighting 'Sources' and pressing Menu rather than Go doesn't seem to do anything.

I don't know which scarts (besides the VTAPE) are used on the back?

Did you use, for example, the "Decoder" scart?

Then you can use this one with the help from a smal converter (scart to coax).

Name the "Decoder" as Vaux or Sat or whatever is available and program the Beo4 with A(V) -Source.

So if you use Decoder as a "Sat", then you use AV followed by Sat on the Beo4.

If you use Decoder as a "Vaux", then you use "A-Vaux" on the Beo4.

If you use Docoder as a "DVD", then you use AV followed by "DVD"on the Beo4. etc.
